Neighbour and CCTV

I live in a row of terraces. On the whole, the neighbours on the terrace are OK but the woman who lives at the very end is a nightmare. She claims she owns the land, which is a communal back alley used to wheel bins down. I think it's council owned.

Anyway, when putting the bins out the other day, I noticed two CCTV cameras on her property pointed at the alley gates. I feel this is massively compromising my privacy. I guess it's so she can have a go at anyone who doesn't lock the gates or anyone who parks down the alley when she's not there (even though she does anyway). Are these cameras legal? There's no signage to say CCTV is in operation.

There's also another neighbour who lives across from the bus stop and has a camera clearly pointing at the bus stop. He's a knob anyway and goes in his front yard and stares at me when i'm at the bus stop! I feel very much under surveillance!

If cctv is pointing onto other peoples land you have a right to view it as they are collecting data. They may have blocked out what the camera is looking at - for example if the camera over looks their garden and also a bit of the neighbours garden they should have blocked out the bit of the neighbours garden. There's been a report on morning live this morning about home cctv.

My neighbours have a ring door camera thing. So they can see when I leave and return to my home. it makes me feel uneasy. I use the back gate sometimes because of it.

Was it previously council property? If so, it's entirely possible it was sold with the house, and it could belong to her

That's what they did with a friend, when she bought her end terrace. The council don't want to own random strips of land.

Not sure about the alley but certainly the other neighbour’s camera should not be pointed at the bus stop. I think you are only allowed to have them on your own property so I would phone police for advice about this.
