To ask how to get rid of these stains?!

37 weeks pregnant and trying to make room for my nursing chair by getting rid of this one. I don't want anything for it so putting it on marketplace as free to collector, but thought I'd try and get a few of the stains off it first, but I followed the instructions on the upholstery cleaner and now I've just got massive rings all over it and it looks 100 X worse than when I started.

Aibu to ask for your tried and tested tips to get rid of these so I can try and advertise it? The fabric isn't on the underneath of the seat cushion so can't just turn it over!

Washing liquid tabs are normally pretty good. When we had our sofa cleaned a while back due to the same issue, we had tried to get rid of stains and made them worse, the cleaning company said if it's good for your clothes it's good for furniture.

Does the cushion cover unzip and come off?

If the cover doesn't come off to wash , you could try one of the Vanish type solutions ?
Or hire a mobile rug/ settee cleaner
I bought a display settee which I thought was immaculate, had it cleaned professionally and was amazed how good it looked

It was a vanish cleaner I used that's left the marks!!

I think this is the way I need to think. Ive managed to fade them a bit by going over it with a stiff hairbrush, and have just listed it as having marks - like you say it's free so they can either invest in cleaning themselves or live with it/put a blanket over the seat. I didn't mind having a crack with the vanish we had or another home remedy but Google seems to think it would need a professional and I'm certainly not paying out to clean something I'm giving away!

It's probably your tap water, the minerals in it could cause the rings.

So however you decide to fix it by some distilled water, Boots etc all carry it.

There are a few easy solutions and I would start with steam.

Hoover the spot over and around the stains, suck out anything that is loose.

A steam iron will do. Just gently steam over the affected areas.

Lay down a paper towel and with a hair dryer on gentle heat slowly dry the area - making sure the whole are is dry. That will also help kill off any spores that may be lurking.

If that doesn't work use a micro fibre cloth and dab at the rings white vinegar. You should notice the rings lughtening each time you dab over them, and then a last dab with the water, then dry off. as above. That can be pretty miraculous

Or washing up liquid in a weak solution, then dry off.

It looks like a nice chair...even with the stains, I'm sure they'll be queuing up to get it for free!

Vanish has bleaching agents in it... so if go over it all of it and scrub the whole cushion it should come up lovely

It is a lovely chair! I had it as a nursing chair for DD1, but it doesn't fit through the door into DS2's nursery so had to buy something else and I don't need 2! I put it on marketplace 20 mins ago and been inundated, someone is coming tomorrow with a queue of others if he doesn't show so didn't need to worry after all!
