sofa beds

Does anyone use a sofa bed? I hae a studio flat so i have a sofa bed. I bought my sofa bed 25 years ago an it is as comfortable as any regular bed that I have ever used. I use my sofa bed every night. Mine has wooden slats on the base. Unfortunately I cannot fold my bed up and use it as a sofa anymore because it is broken so I have to keep it down as a bed. I would like to occasionally fold it up to have someone round so I have had to buy a new one. The shop I bought my original one has closed down, so i struggled to find a similar one at a good price. I bought mine for £900 25 years ago and similar ones are now about £1,800. I managed to get quite a decent one from Marks and Spencer for £900 with a £10 delivery charge. It does not have the wood on the bottom but they said it is suitable for sleeping on regularly and I tried it out and it is comfortable. The only problem is that I cannot buy spare mattresses for it. When i got my existing one from a specialist sofa bed shop, they sold spare mattresses so when the mattress wore out they sold me a new one and gave me the option of a deluxe one which was much thicker so it has really lasted and I really got my monies worth from it. It it wasnt for the fact that it cannot fold into a sofa anymore than I would not be chaging it and it would probably last another 25 years lol

Anyone else use a sofa bed as a regular bed

I have got this one that I sleep on every night.
Not by choice as I don't have a bedroom. I do add a topper on each night.

IKEA sell an excellent one. I cant remember the name but my brother has one and slept on it for years in his 1 bed flat so his dd could have a bedroom.

Could you see if an independent furniture shop/makers could fix the mechanism of your old one?

JayBe do great fold up beds. Don't know if the sofa bit is that good, but they do have slatted bases, like your old one.

yes, you are being unreasonable.

I adore sofa beds it's such a basic but clever idea I didn't have one for ages and really noticed the difference.
