strange nails??

Anyone knows what causes see-through patches on nails .. its on the white of my nail, I’ve got some random clear patches where I can see beneath it. I’m a chronic nail biter if that makes a difference and these nails have just grown in so it’s not fungal. It’s on all of them that are long enough to have white patches. I’ve had it before so I’m just curiousConfused

The nail is meant to be transparent. The white patches are due to damage (usually nail biting, sometimes pressure from false nails or manual work/gardening, anything that can damage the nail). It can also be caused by miners deficiencies. But nails should be mostly transparent, what you're actually seeing is white patches but if you are a heavy nail biter there will be more nail that is bitten than not. Do you bite the middle more than the sides?

Mineral deficiencies not miners deficiencies, sorry. Could also be a fungal infection

I have that. It’s just where it’s uneven when it grows out. Nothing to worry about.

Not sure but I have that too. So hopefully it’s not that strange.
Maybe as we’re all so used to seeing false nails, eyelashes, eyebrows, etc., we sometimes forget what our natural features look like !
