The whole family tested positive for Covid on Boxing Day , confirmed by PCR ,DP has been off work since feeling rough and was due back this weekend ,kids back at school and i returned to work after 10 days with no symptoms. We have all been negative on LFT for at least a week.
Today oldest child has tested positive on lateral flow, is it possible to have it again so soon?

Is that a child who had covid a couple of weeks ago? If so why are they stil testing?

itwasntaparty · 13/01/2022 20:22

Did the eldest test positive at the same
Time as everyone else? Why are you still testing?

BluebellsGreenbells · 13/01/2022 20:24

Yes it’s possible.

givememykeys · 13/01/2022 20:36

@BluebellsGreenbells

Yes it’s possible.
Possible to get covid twice within less than a month? Are you sure ?
Bluehasnoclue · 13/01/2022 21:22

There’s different strains & I believe if you were incredibly unlucky you could have both in a short period of time. Could be wrong but would think it is possible

Angel2702 · 13/01/2022 21:37

Why are they testing again? Once isolation finished you shouldn’t test unless you get new symptoms and then you need a PCR not LFT.

Zombiemum1946 · 13/01/2022 21:39

Sadly you can.

Aren't secondary schools requiring twice weekly tests again?
errnerrcallnernnernnern · 13/01/2022 21:44

Yes, you can catch Covid twice in one month? I have Covid right now and I also believe I had it in early Dec as I have the exact same symptoms.

Can you catch Omicron twice in a month?

Yes it is possible to catch the new variant twice in a month.

When someone catches Covid, their immune system will generate a response that helps them to fight off the virus if they are exposed to it again, but it is possible that a person will become infected with coronavirus more than once but this may not always be the case as reinfection will depend on various factors.

Random ? mark in my first sentence, sorry.

Zombiemum1946 · 13/01/2022 21:46

Kids at secondary are to be tested regularly. Op has followed rules by doing so.

cherryonthecakes · 13/01/2022 21:49

If he tested at school did he make sure he didn't eat/drink 30 mins beforehand ? I ask because my ds forgot and tested positive because of some orange juice but tested negative 30 mins later.

belowaverage · 13/01/2022 21:51

yes , kids at secondary school so back to testing twice weekly

OP posts:
Angel2702 · 14/01/2022 10:24

Those testing positive are exempt from the twice weekly testing for 90 days, including those at secondary school. Once we log a positive test they stop sending the twice weekly emails for 90 days asking you to test and report results at our school.
