AIBU?
So I brought a car yesterday from a dealer. I brought the hybrid Toyota auris. I asked him everything before hand he assured me the car was in perfect condition. Upon buying it and driving it back home I realised the EV flash kept coming on and off even on 40 and it was on power mode that made no sense. My husband suggested I immediately get the catalytic convertor protected as it wasn't protected before and upon taking it to the garage he lifted the car and informed the catalytic convertor was not original and has only been weilded in. The fuel consumption is very bad and overall the car makes noises. I have 3 months warranty and I spoke to the dealer and he said to me I spent enough time near the car so work out if there was fault and just because I don't like it anymore its not his fault.
The thing is I do like the make model of the car but feel a little mugged off. When I told him the catalytic convertor was not original he turned around and said he didn't know about the catalytic convertor being replaced even though he said his guy did the MOT and service so he would have lifted the cat to see himself. AIBU in requesting for a full refund?
I spoke to citizens advice and they have given me steps to take and I have taken the car to the Toyota dealership for a full diagnostic summary to see if there is actually any faults.
As a dealer should he have done those checks to see the catalytic convertor and should he have mentioned that? Can someone please advice me im feeling so stressed.
