Ahh, I spent the last 2 days making my house immaculatly tidy and clean for christmas and now it looks like a christmas tree exploded!
those wire tie thingies are a nightmare.. SO hard to get off!
But we've had the best morning of my whole life... I've never seen them all so excited and happy!
Now Hubby is off to work and I'm off to cook something they will all no boubt turn their noses up at and tell me they want ketchup!
But I LOVE IT!

mumzyof2 · 25/12/2007 21:35

OOOHHHH I know the feeling. My mum bought ds a tiny little mini car, about the size of your thumb, and was screwed into the box with FIVE screws. Its obscene! And the ties are put in there just to piss us off, im sure.

lovecattlearelowing · 26/12/2007 14:41

Oh yes...

DD got every bit of Peppa Pig-related crap in existence for crimbo and EVERYTHING was screwed into the boxes - with miniature screws that we don't have a farkin' screwdriver small enough to fit into! Screwed!! Are they made of plutonium or something that they have to be secured with such bleedin' overkill?!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

cleaninglady · 26/12/2007 14:51

oh i am glad its not just me !!! ive spent most of the morning unpackaging things and resolve to hunt down the toy manufacturers who put six million bendy wires, screws that take an age to unscrew and so much cardboard that a rainforest must have been destroyed !!!!
there is absolutely no need for it!! my DC's went back to their old toys as it was taking me so long to get the new stuff out of the boxes yes this is a pet hate of mine by the way

LyraSilvertinsel · 26/12/2007 14:59

Same here. One toy, a CAT digger and dump truck had about 10 of the twisty things (really tightly wound and almost impossible to undo). I ended up blunting a pair if scissors cutting them. There were also 18 screws holding this thing in the cardboard box. Are they that worried about it falling out of the box?

SpottyHamster · 26/12/2007 18:17

It's soooo annoying, why do they do it? I HATE it with a PASSION. Even my new lazer (so called) scissors struggled with packaging for games controller. As for the screws they use for toys........ don't get me started!!!

oneplusone · 26/12/2007 18:45

me too! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!

ChippolataMinton · 26/12/2007 18:57

very irritating - if the gifts are from you, next time remove the packaging before wrapping up [weary voice of experience]

TheMNPeacekeepingForce · 26/12/2007 19:22

Can we start a MN campaign to reduce excessive toy packaging??!
