Because they should also be publicly shamed for going along with it!
Why has it taken so long to come out when so many people knew....

This government sickens me

I agree re senior politicians but I don't feel it would be fair to publish names of junior members of staff who may have felt pressured to go along or trusted their superiors that it was ok.

Momicrone · 12/01/2022 17:40

Nah, dob m all in

OverByYer · 12/01/2022 17:41

Name and shame, if we had done this in my job at the time, we would all be in trouble

actiongirl1978 · 12/01/2022 17:43

@KiloWhat absolutely agree with you.

If people haven't worked in that kind of office structure/environment they might not appreciate the pressure there might have been to attend for junior staff.

Mosaic123 · 12/01/2022 17:44

It would also be interesting to hear who turned it down.

Although if your (Government/civil service) boss asked you to such a gathering you'd assume it was somehow allowed.

BeetyAxe · 12/01/2022 17:47

It is absolutely fair to name junior members of staff also. Our primary school children all knew and understood that they couldn’t socialise with friends then, absolute nonsense that a junior in Downing Street wouldn’t have understood the same. Workplace pressure or not, they will presumably have been adults with their own moral compass and understanding of the law. If they didn’t have that basic ability then one would question if they should be working there.

Clackyheels · 12/01/2022 18:07

Me too. I was sickened today by the way he read a speech that had been planned by many to try and make out that there was ANY reason (he thought it was a qork event, he was thanking staff etc etc) he attended. The fact that he thought ANY pleb would even consider or believe any of that was insulting. That's what I'm most infuriated by. Not that he went but that he's STILL treating us a common idiots that are going to do and go along with whatever shit he spouts next. I'm enraged. He couldn't give 2 shits about anybody else.

And yes everyone else should be named and shamed.

AmyandPhilipfan · 12/01/2022 18:07

I read that 100 were invited and only 40 went so I’d quite like to know who the 60 were who turned it down and applaud them for following the rules.

Clackyheels · 12/01/2022 18:10

Also, I don't care who turned it down. We all had opportunities to do stuff that we wanted but didn't. We won't get a medal. They absolutely should have turned it down, it doesn't impress me that they did. I would however, like to know just so we know who knew about this and let it carry on and not raise it as an issue.
