To ask Dr to help me get well?

Had a flu/cold/cough thing in October where I was wiped off my feet, felt better in November but by end of the month was ill again, then had a similar bout early December with an awful cough. Finally better for Christmas but then came down with stomach / chest pains (think gastritis?) and another flu/cough that’s been constant since Boxing Day. I’m barely sleeping, can’t eat much as feels like there’s something stuck in my throat (swollen tonsil?), constant headache from coughing, and so so snotty, wheezing when breathing in and out, just generally feeling so awful. And now my period has started although I’m on the pill and take it back to back? Would I be u reasonable to contact the doctor about a full check up? Or do I need to suck up that’s it’s just reoccurring colds?!
Not covid by the way!

Seems a bit odd to have so many recurring colds when we’re still wearing masks, santizing hands etc..
do you think it could be a sinus infection? If it’s a bacterial infection might need antibiotics to clear it. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for 10 minute GP appointment.

Definitely contact the GP. I know you said not Covid, but there's always the possibility that you may have contracted it without knowing. What you're describing are some of the classic symptoms of Long Covid.

I had a virus many years ago and was diagnosed with post viral fatigue syndrome. Lasted about 4 to 6 months and I picked up stuff repeatedly back to back. The 'tonsil' thing definitely needs looking at.

GeraltsLastWish · 11/01/2022 18:35

When I kept getting viruses one after the other, I had a blood test and my Vitamin D was in the toilet.

I would discuss it with your GP. Get your tonsils looked at. Get your bloods done incase something else is going on.

Can be post viral fatigue. Did you have Covid-19 at all in the last couple of years? It could be long covid.

Have been doing regular lateral flows since the beginning and in the past couple months have done two pcr’s after symptoms, all negative. Apart from this I’m normally super healthy. DH says it’s just a really long cold and to suck it up but I do feel so worn down by it all. I really need a proper nights sleep. And I’ve been napping 1-2 hours each day which isn’t realistic long term. He also says GP’s are busy etc but I feel I’ve tried everything from the pharmacy-paracetamol, ibuprofen, multi vitamins, vit D supplement, calpol vapour plug ins, throat spray, nasal spray, honey and lemon, whisky, lemsip, night nurse, blue asthma inhaler, gaviscon, throat lozenges with antibacterial stuff in, and probably more all since October. Tried calling DRs and no appointments left so told to try each morning early.
Anything else I can do/try?

Try really hard to eat properly - little and often if you have to - a fed body is a healing body.

DamnUserName21 · 11/01/2022 20:08

Definitely speak to the GP about your symptoms.
The GP will likely (hopefully) recommend bloods but it be could them to have a look at your throat and listen to your lungs too.

DamnUserName21 · 11/01/2022 20:09

*it would be good for them...

Ignore any martyrs that say don’t bother gp. It could be a sign of being deficient in something. Get checked out. Your health matters.
