Is heartbreak real?

I started going out with someone in work as a wing man (w/f), regularly, because it was our job. Public service, high stress. We enjoyed a laugh at release of tension at each job and hugged but didn't have sex. Does this cause this much pain?

Yes. It feels like physical pain

Sure it can, it does, and it’s the absolute worst. I’m sorry you’re struggling, but it does get better with time. Hang in there. Flowers

Heartbreak is a physical pain felt in the chest. I experienced it myself when my husband died. Later I read that something is released in the body to cause this actual pain.

Feels like someone standing on your heart and you feel empty

I think true heartbreak hurts. I don't think hugging but not shagging a workmate comes anywhere near to heartbreak.

Heartbreak is very painful. I hope I never feel it again.

Heartbreak is similar and can be worse than physical pain.....it feels like a shark has ripped your heart out and torn it to shreds. I still feel like I cant breathe somedays when my feelings hit me unexpectedly.

MagpiesStoleMyTreasure · 11/01/2022 03:01

I don't get it. You are asking about heartbreak - losing someone you love and is a huge part of your life - then talking about some guy from work you sometimes went out with? Confused

Yes, heartbreak hurts like hell.

No - that is not heartbreak. Maybe rejected limerance? Not remotely the same.

But I hope you get past it and feel better. Thanks

Yes

It’s excruciating. I’ve had it more than once, including quite recently. This last time though, I thought, “I am never doing this again. My body literally cannot survive one more.”
Sounds so dramatic! But that’s how intensely painful it has felt.
