Pilonidal sinus/cyst - any doctors/surgeons around?

Posting in AIBU for traffic, sorry!

So, long story short, I had pilonidal cyst removal under general about 20 years ago - it was really bad and I had gone to the Dr for something else entirely assuming I'd just bumped my coccyx. Anyway, fast forward 20 years and for about 10 days I had been experiencing pain in my coccyx, spreading to the scar from the previous surgery; eventually plucked up the courage to call the Dr on Friday, who wanted to see me. I was quite adamant I don't want surgery and he agreed, after speaking to consultant at hospital and seeing me and seeing it actually isn't too bad, to start me on antibiotics and have me reviewed by surgeon on Tuesday.

Anyway, the antibiotics have been amazing and there is barely any pain there now. However, I know that if the sinus/cyst is not actually removed then these will most likely just recur (I'm assuming this is a new sinus/cyst from the one removed 20 years ago). Does anyone know what the surgeon might suggest tomorrow? Will he want to take it out. And does anyone know if this can be done with local anaesthetic only?

I know no-one can really know what he is going to say, I'm just anxious and preparing myself!

Thank you!
