This is to settle an argument.

What date is 365 days in the past from July 20th this year?
Thanks in advance.

20.7.21

Svara · 09/01/2022 20:29

No leap year involved, so the same date last year

freelions · 09/01/2022 20:31

July 20th 2021 surely?

Pumpkinstace · 09/01/2022 20:33

That's my birthday, 20th July.

I don't know the answer but would assume 20th July still as no leap year this year.

Ask Alexa. She's great at this sort of thing

Svara · 09/01/2022 20:51

Interested in what other answer there could be?

DrWhoNowww · 09/01/2022 20:56

It depends how you read it surely?

The 365th day would be the 20th July.

But if you need 365 whole/clear days then the 19th July.

I think, questions like this make my brain hurt.

Helendee · 09/01/2022 20:57

19th July 2021
My birthday!

Bravenheart · 09/01/2022 21:07

yabu not to just google it

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 09/01/2022 21:13

21st July.

Each date only happens once in a year. If you include the 20th at both ends, then it's a year and a day, 366 days.

Same principle if you count back 7 days from a Friday, you end up on a Saturday.

Or that if you had documents to batch file in 1000s, you'd have numbers 1001-2000 and that would be exactly 1000 documents. Numbers 1000-2000 would equal 1001 actual documents.

As long as we all accept that 19th July 2022 is one day before 20th July 2022 (and I don't think there can be any other answer, really), then 20th July 2021 is 365 days before.
Svara · 09/01/2022 21:17

It's Sunday 9pm (ish), one day back is Saturday 9pm, 7 days back is Sunday 9pm last week.

SwanShaped · 09/01/2022 21:17

21st July last year. One full year. Defo NOT the 20th July. Because then you’d be counting the same date twice.

Piggy42 · 09/01/2022 21:20

I’d say 21.7.21

Agree with this 20.07.21
ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 09/01/2022 21:26

I would say 21.07.21 - 365 days in a year.

DispositionCheeseLatte2 · 09/01/2022 21:33

This is the argument I'm having.
19, 20th and 21st were all put forward and argued as right - various reasons. I wanted to ask the hive mind of MN.

A year before my birthday, it was my birthday.
So, 20th July. What ARE you planning for my birthday?

MaizeAmaze · 09/01/2022 21:43

I cant see how it would be the 19th?
20, 19, 18...... you would cycle back through the 20th, and it would be more than 365 days ago, surely?

RandomMess · 09/01/2022 21:44

Just to confuse matters there are actually only 364 and a quarter days in a year hence needing 4 years to have a leap year!

MaizeAmaze · 09/01/2022 21:53

I'm totally overinvested in this now. Arent there 365.25 days in a year? ie a year is a bit longer than the calander, rather than a bit shorter?

SwanShaped · 09/01/2022 21:53

Isn’t it 365 and a quarter days a year?

RandomMess · 09/01/2022 21:54

LOL yes 🤣
