Next year I am having a milestone birthday and my daughter is 18 a week later… exciting stuff!

What could we do?
Where could we go?

I starting saving now!!

We have dogs so travelling abroad could be tricky. And I hate flying- side note, don’t watch “United 93” if you’re like me.
But happy to go on a boat/train/drive.

Thanks in advance!!

Well is there anywhere that you really fancy going but haven't been? What about DD? Has she travelled much? Is it just you two?

Muthalucka · 09/01/2022 18:28

Boat/train to Amsterdam depending on what part of Uk your in?

FancySomeChips · 10/01/2022 07:14

Myself and DD, other DD undecided if she wan to to come.
2 dogs

It sounds ridiculous but we have been so skint for so long that I can’t even remember where I used to want to go. Any thoughts on going anywhere were put out of my head as I could barely afford heating.
I’m paying off a bigggggggg loan in a few months so will set aside what I’m currently repaying for that each month and use this as our birthday budget next year.

I'd book a room leading out to the garden in a lovely hotel and invite all my friends and DD's friends and have a party. It'd be sedate in the early evening with drinks and canapés, then lead to dinner, and finally a messy disco in a marquee. Like a wedding reception!

I turned 50 and DS1 turned 18 in the peak of lockdowns. We had a JustEat. 😆

West Midlands Safari Park have safari lodges now?
They're very expensive but it completely depends what you're into.

Paris by train. I’d love that.

SleepingStandingUp · 10/01/2022 08:30

Well you're massively restricted if you're taking the dogs. Would you kennel them?

Train to Bruges (never been but meant to be lovely so it’s on the list). Nice to explore new places but would have to board dogs somewhere.
