To find Catchphrase so frustrating to watch?

Just that really?

Skipping the channels while feeding the baby and land on ITVs Catchphrase. It gives me the rage, which I know is unreasonable, but when did it stop using catchphrases and start just naming stuff?? Just seen one where the answer was simply 'fry up'. Does that count as a catchphrase these days??

I suppose its slang rather than a catchphrase, but we tried to watch it the other day and gave up halfway through the guests introducing themselves - it went on way too long!

RedCandyApple · 08/01/2022 18:54

They’ve probably ran out of catch phrases, I noticed it too when watching it a while back that some of the answers were really random

sunlovingcriminal · 08/01/2022 18:56

Hate to say it, but it's up there and as my favourite show. Thinking of applying. So yes. YABU.

TheHamburgler · 08/01/2022 19:00

I think they’ve always just named stuff. For example, that classic blooper reel one was just ‘snake charmer’.

fucketyfuckwit · 08/01/2022 19:02

Love love love catch phrase!! It's the only one I'm good at!

RunnerDuck2020 · 08/01/2022 19:03

I really enjoy it - agree though that a lot of them aren’t catchphrases, I think they’ve run out! 😂

RandomDent · 08/01/2022 19:03

‘‘Twas ever thus! I remember watching the Roy Walker one as a youth shouting “That’s not a catchphrase!”

Roselilly36 · 08/01/2022 19:07

In the Roy Walker days, I loved it, but now it is just so random. YANBU.

LublinToDublin · 08/01/2022 19:12

It's always been pretty random.
As long as its more than one word it's a phrase. And song titles, book titles etc.
I love it - great family nonsense. Anyone can play.

DerektheGoose · 08/01/2022 19:18

Love catch phrase so YABU Grin

nothingcomestonothing · 08/01/2022 19:31

DD is watching it now while I grind my teeth to stop myself yelping ' how is that a catch phrase!?' every few seconds YANBU

Plumbear2 · 08/01/2022 19:51

Yea I agree. My son also pointed this out aswell.

One of my favourite bloopers!
ShowOfHands · 08/01/2022 19:54

I used to say this as a child. Saturday nights on my Grandma's sofa with a Chinese takeaway and Roy Walker presenting. It was a random thing all the time.

10yo DS loves it.

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 08/01/2022 20:05

“Fry up!” as my Nan used to say. Got me through some hard times that did.

Stiffcondomhat · 08/01/2022 20:12

Dhs favourite thing to watch is me watching catchphrase. I switch briskly between rage and hilarity.

chaseisntonthecase · 08/01/2022 20:33

Don't get me wrong, I love it, I just can't watch it because it makes me mad Grin

workingtheusername · 08/01/2022 22:08

I love it and there's only so many catchphrases

BornOnTwelfthNight · 08/01/2022 23:35

It’s always been this way, if they didn’t name stuff then they’d run out!

We love it, it’s a great all round family game show.
