Aibu for feeling guilty about applying for better paid job?

I've been really encouraged by lovely people on mumnet to supply for a job that is s career step up and a huge bump in salary....if I get it that is :)

However I feel extremely guilty ss my current employer is great and I have a solid relationship with them. The company see me as an asset and have always been really supportive with covid, childcare etc I love working here but the pay is too low and promotions are difficult to get.

Aibu? Is it normal to feel this loyal?

They wouldn't match the salary as it is a lot higher

No, you should feel guilty. The new job gives you progression and better pay and that’s not on the agenda with your current employer. They have to understand that the main reason people attend work is to earn money.

Don't feel guilty! Loyalty means nothing any more - well-loved, great staff are still made redundant at the touch of a button. And if they really valued you that much, they would pay you more. Even if they couldn't match the salary of this new place, they could surely pay you a bit more than you're currently on.
