I know no one can really answer this but started a strict diet January 1 and have apparently gained 1lb Hmm

I’m just a bit disheartened.

It's probably water retention because your period is due.

I'm assuming you're a woman and under 52.

I am and I did have a period this week. Wondering if it’s a new battery we just put in the scales, OH says weighing heavily for him too.

Are you keeping track of everything you eat?

If you are eating less calories than you are using then you'll lose weight, the exception being if hormones are causing water retention, I usually see a gain in the couple of days before my period starts.

I always gain a few pounds before my period and it drops off afterwards.

Also, are you weighing at the exact same time each day, wearing the same clothes? I do it every morning first thing. If I tried again in the evening it would say I'd gained several pounds which obviously I haven't, it's just water and food weight.

I weighed myself every day last year and tracked my food - believe me, you can fluctuate 3lbs up or down for no apparent reason!

I always put on exactly 2lbs during my period and also the day after a strenuous workout.
