Disappointed I am not taken seriously?

Toxic workplace, gaslighting, manipulation,
mocked. Attempted to raise issues over 18 month timeline. Outcome I am dismissed as unimportant which just adds to the toxicity.
Thought of retaliating but if I adopted same behaviour I would be reported.

Any advice?

Did you escalate through HR?

Fieldmouse90 · 07/01/2022 18:56

No. I have tried to hold back. It is the last resort. Everything is stacked against me re the set-up. Gaslighting is so manipulative I fear I will be made to look crazy. I am not though.

Start looking for a new job. Keep a careful record of everything they're doing to you. Times, dates, people involved etc. If you get enough evidence you could take it to an employment tribunal.

Are you in a Union?

Butchyrestingface · 07/01/2022 19:19

Well, if you're not willing to escalate, I think your options are limited. Are there any witnesses to these incidents? Any other members of staff?

I agree with the PP about keeping a record of incidents with dates, times, a very factual account of what happened.

And yes to looking for a new job. Is that something you're doing at the moment?

jaffacakesareepic · 07/01/2022 19:44

Honestly get a new job, it can be so easy to get sucked into trying to 'win' or get the outcome you want but the reality is if you are in a toxic workplace cut your losses and leave, even if you get them to take you seriously once then what? A constant battle for it to continue? Whats the benefit to you? Go somewhere you will be appreciated

I have long term service. I don't want to sacrifice that and give them what they want by leaving.

Yes some incidents witnessed.

I think I am being devalued due to ageism.

I have long term service.

Apologies I understood from the 18 month thing that you had only been there 18 months, is there an option to move into a new team or area?

You are absolutely right to stand you ground and get fair treatment. But you sound a little like this could be having a greater impact on your mental health than a victory would have a positive impact. Make sure you are looking after yourself in this.
