TTC and moving to new department

Hi, I’ve been with my employer for 4 years, and have recently moved to a new department. We’d like to start TTC but I’m concerned it would look bad to my new manager if we were to conceive quickly. I don’t really want to wait to TTC tho as we are late 30s. Would it be unreasonable of me to potentially be going off on maternity within 1 year of starting a new job (beating in mind I’ve worked for the company for 4 years now)? New manager seems nice enough but I don’t want to piss him off either.

Bearing in mind, not beating. Typo.

Try for the baby OP! Fertility is a precious gift which fades quickly, management should get over it, and if they don’t well too bad for them.
You might not conceive straight away anyway. Good luck OP.

They pay your wage, they don’t control your life!
Try for the baby and good luck!

No it's fine

Sounds fine to me. You’ve already given them four years service. If they take the arse (which likely they won’t), they’d be being very unreasonable. 🙂

Thank you. I am known to be a big worrier and it seems this is me worrying unnecessarily again. Good to know it’s a unanimous YANBU
