I just need to rant!!!! For the last week his constantly cough cough cough and making flipping snorting noises for the love of christ its driving me insane ! Im actually spending the 2nd night away from him I can't sleep every 20 seconds cough cough or he snorts !

I do not do sympathy I know im being unfair but blow your bloody nose not snort the crap back down .

Just to note-He was on a course of antibiotics last week for an ear infection and he picked up the cough a few days before they ended, we also had covid at the beginning of December so I don't know whether its soemthing from then coming out but trying to convince him to go back to the doctors is not working !!!!

Iv found a pillow over the face with some slight pressure can relieve it 😂 in all honesty not much advice but can't totally sympathise

Bronchostop could be your hero of the day. It doesn't seem to work for everyone, but the people that recommended it to me and the people I have recommended it to all swear by it.

I use the pastilles - you can get them or the liquid at supermarkets or chemists. It might just save you from a jail sentence.... Although I'll be your alibi, I know how annoying it is!

Hi @lambran
Just to let you know a post covid cough can continue for a few weeks after the first symptoms of covid.

MrsTophamHat · 05/01/2022 18:39

Are you my husband's other wife??

I am beyond sick of the coughing. Course of antibiotics hasn't touched it. He's now been given a blue inhaler in case it has set off his childhood asthma which does help a bit. I've also bought him some daily antacids to take as I read on NHS that reflux can cause coughing, and he is partial to a spot of heartburn as well.

I've had a cough for three days, not covid but kept waking me up. In desperation I soaked some olbas oil into my pillowcases. Result - 6 hours of solid sleep. Smile

It might be worth a try.

Bronchostop except it takes like pure death in a bottle!

Didn’t do anything for my covid cough either. Nothing did though.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/01/2022 19:18

I find Benelyn dry coughs (day or night depending on when you need it to be the best.

Stellaris22 · 05/01/2022 19:21

As someone with cough variant asthma and gets a hacking cough (no medicine helps) you'd hate me.

However bad it is for you, it'll be a million times worse for him, uncontrollable coughs are painful and exhausting. The lack of sleep is horrible.

Do you think? I don't mind the taste at all.

Yeah, sadly, like everything else, it doesn't work for everyone. I hope your cough is better now though.

Thank you all for your comments ive woken up because I can hear him downstairs. I will definelty try and get some medicine thats been recommended already

It doesn't help we currently have my parents round every day for the last week doing decorating and DIY work and yeah tensions are very high right now. But were in a timescale to finish the project so its kinda got to be completed. And husband is currently on a weeks holiday don't think this is how he expected it to go oops 😬
