Why can't we figure out what this quote means?

Somebody has re-posted a quote on social media:

"It's 2020 two of you, not three" - and my friends and I are going crazy here trying to figure out what this even means?! Does this make sense to anyone? Are we going mad? 😂 there isn't even any context! Seen lots of coronavirus-related 2020/2022 jokes, but this one has us stumped!

Lol I’m not sure if I’m right OP or if this even makes sense but I took it to mean in 2020 there is only two number 2’s & in 2022 there’s three so for example:

2020

RincewindsHat · 04/01/2022 21:05

Maybe her phone autocorrected, and it's supposed to say: it's 2022, not [202]3

msc6199 · 05/01/2022 07:59

Isn't it bizarre!?! 😂😂😂 We never managed to figure out what it was supposed to mean, although I don't think anybody else did, as all the comments were "huh?" "I'm sorry???" and "make this make sense?"

😂

It says to me a couple before the third, COVID, was present. I work with COVID data though so that’s always my first thought Grin

SheWoreYellow · 05/01/2022 08:07

More obviously, they didn’t have a baby last year?

Annaghgloor · 05/01/2022 08:10

Is the ‘2020’ a reference to perfect eyesight, rather than a date? So it’s the equivalent of ‘My sight is 20/20, and there are two of you, not three, because I can see clearly’?

nellly · 05/01/2022 08:11

Now it's driving me crazy too Grin

bestofme21 · 05/01/2022 08:13

I think it means that because of covid and lockdown, we had a repeat of 2020. So two 2020s. Hopefully not a repeat of restrictions in 2022 so not three 2020s.

marcopront · 05/01/2022 08:16

Where was it posted originally?

TheMagiciansNiece · 05/01/2022 08:17

Can you just ask them to explain?

Tommika · 05/01/2022 08:20

Are they not understanding and misquoting a method of saying 2022

As in ‘pronounced twenty twenty two, not two thousand & twenty two’

Have they confused the numbers version of ‘20 20 2 not 2000 & 22’ and made the 0s into 3 of them?

bishophaha · 05/01/2022 08:39

@bestofme21

This is it. There are jokes going round that we had 2020 twice, because the awful year (of lockdowns and covid deaths etc) repeated in 2021. They don't want it a third time.
FatOaf · 05/01/2022 08:42

Oh God! Not another Bos going up the post office steps thread...

Annaghgloor · 05/01/2022 08:46

Yes, what @bestofme21 said. It’s saying ‘please let’s not have another deja vu Covid year.’
