Not letting boyfriend come over with a cold?

upsidedownboyyouturnmee · 02/01/2022 17:17

Since Christmas Day my boyfriend has had a cold.
He lied and said he felt fine and came over NYE (he was unwell, sneezing, temperature) etc etc
He took a lateral flow every day and all negative.
So it is just a cold but he wants to come over tonight for a "cuddle" which means he wants me to make his tea and basically be his nurse maid.
I said no and we can wait till he is better because I don't want to catch it.
He said this is what I signed up for and I'm his girlfriend and shouldn't mind catching it.
Aibu to think he is being a selfish prick?
Why would he want me to be unwell like he is.

Up to you. I'd be pissed off with him for his NYE lies and ditch him tbh.

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2022 17:19

If he had a temperature, he should have been isolating and taken a pcr.

I would stay well away. Possibly permanently.

MerryChristmas21 · 02/01/2022 17:20

Selfish prick. Bin him off!

Don't forget, people can have -VE LFT, but +VE PCR.

But no matter what it is, his attitude SUCKS.

fineappleglasgow · 02/01/2022 17:20

He needs to self isolate and book a PCR

WorriedGiraffe · 02/01/2022 17:22

If he’s had a negative PCR then I’d let him over personally as it’s daft to be afraid of catching a cold. If he hasn’t done a PCR then there’s no way I’d let him over, lateral flow results are irrelevant with covid symptoms.

Chamomileteaplease · 02/01/2022 17:22

YANBU - of course you don't want to catch a cold. He is selfish. Colds can be nasty and at the very least a debilitating pain in the neck.

Fluffyunicorn1 · 02/01/2022 17:22

Well technically he should have had a pcr but I had a god awful cold a few weeks ago that absolutely floored me for a week. Wasn’t covid. So no I wouldn’t want to be around him at all.

Plus he’s a pig for lying nye

Letitsnoooow · 02/01/2022 17:23

The colds going around are horrendous. I wouldn’t see him.

JMKid · 02/01/2022 17:27

Ffs people get a grip, it's a cold. Stop turning everything into Covid!!!

pigsDOfly · 02/01/2022 17:30

Well he can't be sure it's actually just a cold can he.

My DS had been having negative LFT results when he was in contact with covid.

He then had very mild symptoms, similar to a cold: very slight temperature, sore throat, runny nose, so did a PCR.

PCR was positive so out of interest he did another LFT. Again that was negative.

LFTs are notorious unreliable.

Your boyfriend is being selfish and ridiculous, he needs to do a PCR because his symptoms could very well be covid and you need to insist he stays away from you and anyone else.

Even if it isn't covid why on earth would he feel it reasonable to expect you to want to 'cuddle' him.

Unanananana · 02/01/2022 17:33

He wants you to cook his din dins and nurse him better? Fuck that.

A temperature needs a PCR. LFT are not accurate for those with symptoms. Everyone knows that by now.

Therealjudgejudy · 02/01/2022 17:34

He sounds like a big baby...

He had a temperature which is one of the 3 main covid symptoms, so how is it clearly just a cold? He has symptoms of both so it could be either.
Scarby9 · 02/01/2022 17:34

@JMKid It may well be just a cold, but anyone else catching it would still have to have a PCR (and potentially isolate for 1-3 days while waiting for the results).
I have a cough. Negative PCR and LFTs but I have only met one person outdoors for a walk and kept distant. No-one needs the additional hassle of even a cold.

CovidCurious · 02/01/2022 17:34

I wouldn't make a fuss about isolating if somebody I lived with had a cold. But a boyfriend wanting to come over and give me his cold? No thanks. He can stay at home.

iloverunningslow · 02/01/2022 17:35

I wouldn't want to get a cold because then I might get a cough or temperature and have to book a PCR. I'm still waiting for my last result from 20 December and I wouldn't be up for 7 days isolation for a cold!

samwitwicky · 02/01/2022 17:35

Ditch him. He doesn't care about you.

How do you know it's a cold?

Yes, it could be a cold, but given the symptoms he should still get a PCR.

Whatever it is he shouldn't be expecting to go to OPs home and, more than likely, pass it to her.

upsidedownboyyouturnmee · 02/01/2022 17:38

He is at work at the minute
Complaining every 10 mins how ill he is.
At the minute if I caught a cold I would hate even going to the corner shop incase people thought it was covid

There was a study out a couple of days ago that said around 75% of people who think they have colds actually have covid...

At the moment, most colds are covid.
