Does this studio seem like a good deal?

5 minutes walk from Manchester city centre
25sqm for a couple (small I know, but we live in smaller currently)
Very nice, modern studio, 730 including broadband
Council tax band A so roughly £1300 for the year I believe
Just wanted to see we aren't being ripped off, including water and electricity it should work out as roughly £465 per month each

Sounds a lot to me for a teeny tiny flat. Is there a reason you wouldn't look for a bigger one a bit further out?

Mabelface · 02/01/2022 09:11

Sounds normal for Manchester City Centre.

Sounds about right for the location. Check the heating costs - if it is an old building with high ceilings they can be astronomical

Littlewhiteballs · 02/01/2022 09:13

I had no idea Manchester was so expensive!

MerryChristmas21 · 02/01/2022 09:15

I don't live anywhere near Manchester, so I have no idea how it compares to other rentals, nor if I'd want to live in the city centre.

How does it compare to your existing place?

It's all relative! Studio flats are more expensive here & I live in a small (SE) 'village'.

'Village' because technically it is, but it's not a pretty, quaint village, more like a small suburb.

Manchester has experienced a huge property boom, it's a very fast rising market. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000lwn5

I don’t know Manchester, but I think this is similar for most major Midlands cities with unis. I just checked the right move for my area (Notts) and prices are similar but all are really marketed for students.

fellrunner85 · 02/01/2022 09:37

Sounds about right to me. I paid similar when I had a flat in Manchester, and that was a while ago now..

Have you viewed other similar properties?

That should tell you how it compares.
