To wake my child up at 7:30?

10 year old been with their father for the last week and has been going to bed after midnight and last night at 1:30 and apparently slept until midday yesterday, they were still awake at 1:15 this morning and then the baby has had me awake since 3 🤪

Even when it’s school holidays we still have the same bedtime routine here as DCs have to leave the house at the same time for me to go to work so I need them to be back into their routine on Tuesday.

Should I leave them to lie in slightly in the morning or get them up at the regular time?

Maybe go for 9:30 today then 8:30 tomorrow and 7:30 Tuesday? It’s a big shock to go from midday to 7:30 in one go, unless it was just a one off for NYE?

Oof. Well done for finding your humour about it, I'd be pretty annoyed that your ex has left you with the fall out!

If I were you I'd wake DC up at about 10am this morning and then 8am tomorrow morning to prepare them for the 7:30am rise on Wednesday. I'd also have everything ready the night before to ease the inevitable suffering you will endure. Solidarity, my kids are not morning people and late nights make school mornings hellish.

I've missed a day out, I keep thinking today is Monday already.

I think I'd stagger it a bit to get back to "normal"
Are the late night stay overs likely to be a regular thing, or a one off?
If likely to be repeated, you just need to ensure they don't run right up to returning to school (or get dickhead to act more responsibly)

Leave them to lie in. If they go to bed tonight at the usual time they will be fine for school.

I like your optimism, that definitely wouldn’t happen in this house 😂

Luckily DC woke up before 7 themselves so hopefully we’ll have an earlier night tonight 🤞🏻

I've been lax on bedtimes over the holiday but yesterday woke DS up at 9:30 am, today 9am, tomorrow will be 8:30 so hopefully by Thursday when they are back in school we will be back to a 7am wake up.

Or you could "shock the system" by waking them up at 7:30am meaning they will be tired and grouchy all day, up to you really of you have the patience for that kinda day. I don't. 😳

Leave them sleeping and enjoy the peace
