5th day in isolation because we all have covid. 3 kids, a dog and a small house. I'm demented. I'm beginning to feel depressed! We are all absolutely fine. This is my only bloody week of work for the next 6 months and it's been wasted. I just want to cry! Just ranting really because I don't want to say it to dp or the kids and put my downer on them so I'm giving it to you MN. Happy new year 🤣

Op that is rubbish. You should call in sick to work - many companies let you cancel your annual leave and log as sickness absence instead so you don't waste your annual leave

BeyondMyWits · 01/01/2022 12:21

It is hard... but my mum always said whilst you are climbing those walls give em a good clean will you.... and have a go at the windows too...

So basically find something, anything, that needs doing, work hard at it and the time passes quickly.

Oh that’s shit Sad Yes, I think policy is often to cancel annual leave when you’re sick.

Email them now.

This is really, really bad luck, poor you!

Do you at least still have nice left-overs and alcohol in the house? Lots of chocolate?

I'm self employed 😭, but my holidays are pretty much set in stone because so many people rely on me and I hate letting them down or giving them any extra inconvenience.

Nope, no chocolate or sweets, didn't make Christmas Dinner (went to my mums) so no leftovers, however my mum got us a nice butchers steak pie so we will have a good dinner tonight 🤣

I could clean under our bed but I fear if I start that I could be there longer than I have left in isolation!

I had isolation just before Xmas and I baked anything that looked like an ingredient. I made homemade soups with odds and ends from cupboard and fridge. I cleaned the skirting boards, hand scrubbed the kitchen floor, cleaned behind the toilet etc. Literally found anything to keep me busy and on my feet all day.

I should say I did walk the dog every morning too before it got light. In country tho so easy for me to not see anyone.

Have you a garden where you can play with dog?

I'd blitz the house tbh. The kids can do their rooms too. Give them a black bag or a box each and tell them to tidy their rooms and anything that doesn't get stored neatly in their room has to go.

This has the added bonus of forcing them to clear cupboards out as they desperately want to keep things but can't fit them in with all the other shit.

Thatsplentyjack · 01/01/2022 12:47

Yup got a garden. The grass is like a bog though. It goes like that every year. My mum and dad have Neen walking him. We live right next to a country park so I just open the door and let him out. They have their own leads for him, but he generally doesn't need one because he just ignores other dogs and people..

See I would do this but I would have nowhere to put all the crap that gets cleared out. They also did a pretty decent clear out in November. I've cleaned the doors and skirtings (after a thread on here recently 🤣) and baby dd makes it difficult to get stuck into a job that takes a while (she's an attention seeker).

I feel your pain I sobbed all the way to the pcr centre and then cried some more when my daughter tested positive and she cried because Xmas was ruined , I just kept telling myself to be grateful we weren’t sicker
