To feel trapped this time of year

Firstly Happy New Year - I'm hoping 2022 is better for all!

Now that's out the way! I'm done. Done with Christmas. Done with New Year. Done with the four walls at home. Done with no work. Done with no nursery. You get the drift. I have a few days until my birthday too and I cannot wait for that to be over as well so 2022 can get properly underway and things can go back to normal... Well covid normal but you know.

I try and be jolly etc but I am just over it. The Great Christmas Light Display of 2021 outside the house flashing away each night is pissing me off. My child is bored and whiney as he misses nursery. I don't want to talk to anyone as I'm just over this time of year. I know I sound miserable and that's because I am. Roll on crisp mornings and walks outside instead of being cooped up all day because it is grey and miserable (actually we do still go out but it is harder when wet and muddy!). Argh!!!!

I'm with you. It has been the greyest and gloomiest Christmas weather-wise that I can remember. I hate having so much time off work when there is nothing to do.

🤞 for 2022 too!
Please continue to rant lol. I'm a single parent and a teenager isolating together in a tiny 2 bed flat in London and while it's not as stressful as a toddler... I'm dealing with some mood swings, friendship drama and homework. Send help!

@CardiganAddict first year single parent for me. Ex has moved on with the love of his life living his "best life" ignoring he is a dad. Definitely sending help! I'm dreading the dramas to come.

@RampantIvy I know. The endless grey days followed by dark nights thinking it is bed time when actually it is 7 pm.

Raising my imaginary glass to the prospect of an improving situation in 2022.
-Just the problem of everyone getting sick with Omicron at once to deal with first-
I’ve always felt that January and February in the U.K. should either be banished to room 101 - or that it should be possible to safely hibernate until March.
Good luck everyone!

I find the short days quite trapping, as you have so little time to do anything!

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 01/01/2022 08:37

Oh I totally get that trapped feeling too @TrappedToday I've sworn that next Christmas I'm going to work between Christmas and New Year because I need to get out! I also think I'm going to take the tree down today, I'm just done with it all.

CardiganAddict · 01/01/2022 20:33

@TrappedToday thank you! Sending virtual help back lol
Your ex is a comeplete ballsack. No more comment on my end but I empathise...!
