Why do I have to isolate?

DS had covid before Xmas. Gave track and trace all the relevant details. Had a text to confirm I don't have to isolate but take lateral flows for the next 7 days etc etc....but my mum had a text to say she must self isolate for the next 10 days.

Now dd and my mum have covid. I spoke to track and trace today regarding dd. Again, gave them all the relevant details. I don't have to self isolate but lateral flow for the next 7 days.

My mum gets another text from them saying she must self isolate for the next 10 days. Which she is anyway as she's positive for covid.

Track and trace then called my mum earlier and I've now had a text from them saying I do need to isolate for the next 10 days

Why is this?

To to clarify - we all live together in one house. I also don't plan on going anywhere unless absolutely no other choice necessary and I am testing myself daily.

Others have said this. You technically need to isolate unless You are exempt. You are exempt if vaccinated.
Apparently they won’t necessarily twig this despite the fact that it would apply to over 90% of the population.
When they next call ask them specially why as you are vaccinated and don’t have covid

Oh ok thanks.

It's just very strange to be told earlier I don't have to self isolate and then to get this random email as soon as my mum does track and trace to say I need too.

Like I say, I'm isolating anyway looking after everyone but didn't know if there was a huge change somewhere that I had completely missed!

because the texts havent been updated.

Unless you're in Scotland and then you do need to isolate

itsgettingweird · 31/12/2021 20:30

I agree with confirming with T and T.

Your mum and DD can both leave isolation on day 7 if they have negative LFT on day 6 and 7.

This obviously is England's rules only so if your a other country then it'll be different!

Unsure33 · 31/12/2021 20:39

Have you checked the government website I think it’s the most up to date source.

Same in our house. Ds positive Tuesday dp on Wednesday. As I understand it they both isolate. On days 6 and 7 they take lateral flows 24 hours apart if both negative they can go back to normal. If not keep testing until 2 tests 24 hours apart are negative or day 10. My self as I am vaccinated I can test daily and carry on as normal. My other son is non vaccinated due to age. Technically he can test daily and go out but his isolating as am I. Unless we need groceries in which case I test before I go.

Yeah the texts etc make out you need to isolate but if you google the rules you don’t if double jabbed

Heartofglass12345 · 31/12/2021 23:03

I will be honest if it's anything like our T&T we are currently overrun with contact cases and are sending out texts. It's probably just a mistake, if you know you're double vaccinated you don't have to isolate Smile
