Secondary school teachers - my son is in Y9 - looks like I might have to take him out for a week in March - do they do mocks around that time?

No school does mocks in year 9. Some schools would do exams in the second part of the year which may be used for setting in future years but only your school would be able to tell you that.

Your school will be able to tell you what exam timetable they have in place

There's no point in asking here. All schools are different.

You need to find a school calender. It won't be mocks, but it could be Y9 exams.

Year 9s will have exams.
Only your school can tell you when they will run and how they are organised.

They are really only 'mocks' when done in y11 on mainly past papers covering some / all of the syllabus as direct practice before the 'real thing'.

(Or y13, or for any subject taken out of the usual exam years).

Even for y11 schools will hold mocks at different times, it is very school dependent.
