Can't decide between pixie cut and extensions

I had a very short pixie which was far too short and didn't suit me I believe, so I'd like something longer with a sweeping fringe, maybe like Frankie Bridge used to have.

Atm the sides are about 3/4 of the way down my ears so not long enough to even qualify as a very short bob, taken me 3 months to get to this point.

It's quite thick too and just some sort of mushroom atm, I either clip it all back or wear headbands every day, it has no shape or style. Feel pretty unattractive even though I know it's just hair.

Contemplating extensions, however they're expensive, high maintenance and painful to apply (well they have been for me).
Can't deal with another 5 or 6 months of this non style.
So can't decide between that or a pixie cut.

Agree currently too short for Frankie cut but I think you should carry on as by Spring you should be there, especially if you straighten the fringe. Can you get the nape tapered in better/clippered so it looks less grown out and more like a deliberate style? Also the top looks quite heavy in the first pic, maybe a little thinning out/texturising there? IMO extensions at this length would look pretty obvious.
When I accidently dyed my hair green (don't ask!) I wore makeup every day and made sure I styled it and it made it look better. Your are nearly there!

Yours is still too short for extensions but have you looked at other shorter styles that you can get whilst growing yours?

When growing out hair it's always a good idea to still have it trimmed/thinned and have some sort of style so it doesn't drive you mad.

I find a really funky fringe helps the growing process as it give it a different edge.

Could also consider going asymmetrical for a while and see how that goes?

Mumdiva99 · 31/12/2021 09:01

Just get it tidied without lots of length taken off....the second picture looks nice, the first side needs some blending and as suggested a little thinning. Then in a few weeks/couple of months you will have much more to play with. (I really like it short....but if you don't then grow it out).

Letthebodieshitthefloor · 31/12/2021 09:03

Yes you're right I could try and asymmetrical style.
I only had it trimmed a fortnight ago but the nape area seems to grow out quite fast.

Also not the neatest as I've only recently woken up lol

I agree, get it cut shorter back and sides and shaped at the back and keep the length at the front for a side swept fringe.
You can then grow that out into a graduated bob.

I think even the gorgeous Frankie Bridge looked unnatural with hair extensions. See pic.

@Letthebodieshitthefloor
Quirky fringe op and get the nape neat as that will make it appear longer.

Pics when you get back pls Grin

You need to get the back and sides cuts pretty short. Almost like an undercut, it’s too short on top so that needs to grow out first but unfortunately takes the longest, give it a hand by going in shorter around the back and around your ears. You’ll find it’s more manageable too and just looks better

EishetChayil · 31/12/2021 10:29

Unless you can afford very extensions, avoid them. On short hair they are always so obvious.
