To say the sales on the high street are rubbish?

Did all the good stuff go in the first couple of days and I'm late to the sale shopping party or are the sales just a bit rubbish this year?

Many retailers have struggled to get stock in recent months or they ordered less stock than they would have a few years ago because the mix of possible lockdowns and people shopping more online it's not worth the risk. I don't think there is actually much that the shops have left over to reduce and sell off. Everything sold out before Christmas.
Which to be honest is how retail should be. They shouldn't have to lose money by selling stuff off cheap. They want to make a profit.
