Hardly any bleeding after miscarriage - help?

Sorry for posting on Aibu but I'm really worried.

I had a MC 3 days ago. There wasn't much bleeding but it was very painful. I was 9 weeks.

I haven't even filled a pad since then and now the bleeding has turned brown and it's very light. I'm scared there's still lots left inside. I'm in a lot of pain too.

I phoned the hospital but they sounded very busy and hung up the phone. Can anyone advise if this sounds normal?

I'm not sure if this is always the case, but it can take a little while for the miscarriage to be 'complete' if you see what I mean - as your hormone levels drop over the next couple of weeks, more bleeding may start.

I'm not an expert and it's definitely a midwife/doctor you need to speak to - but just wanted to reassure you it's not necessarily unusual. I'm so sorry you're going through this Flowers

I was 7 weeks when I miscarried and bled ( and clotted) quite a bit at the time but within a day or so it stopped completely. Maybe get your doctor to give you a call back to reassure you or get you in for an examination.
I'm sorry for your loss. 💐

I’m really sorry this has happened to you.
Maybe call 111 for advice?

Neyae · 29/12/2021 18:07

Thanks all, I didn't want to bother 111 if it's normal, I could barely stand up in the shower due to the pain so maybe I'll give them a try.

Was your miscarriage confirmed on ultrasound? If it was a missed miscarriage (where the pregnancy stops developing quite early but pregnancy symptoms continue) then there might not be much to pass. However if you’re having pain then that suggests things aren’t complete. If the pain is that severe then I would suggest A&E. They won’t be able to do a lot for the miscarriage but they should be able to get your pain under control and hopefully refer you on to the Early Pregnancy Unit for follow ho.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I lost at 8 weeks. Passed an intact sac... Bleeding had about stopped the next day. I would say as long as you aren't in any real pain or have a temperature you are fine.
Sorry for your loss op..

Neyae · 29/12/2021 18:37

Thanks @Darkstar4855 yes, it was a MMC. I went for my 12 week scan and it was confirmed the baby had stopped growing at 9 weeks. I just thought there would be much more for 9 weeks, if that makes sense. Maybe I'm just overthinking.

No scan afterwards to confirm MC.

Sorry for your loss too @Santahatesbraisedcabbage and thanks for the reply.

I do think you should get it checked, i know everyone is different but it's should be at least a period I should think. I miscarried at 8w, everytime I went to the toilet it was like pouring a cup of blood down the toilet. If it's still hurting then I don't think it's complete, you might need help to remove it. So sorry

Neyae · 29/12/2021 18:48

That's what I thought @Getyourjinglebellsinarow
It's just so difficult to know what's normal. But everything I have read suggests large amounts of blood/ clots etc and I haven't had that.

Sorry for your loss, too. Life is shit sometimes. 🥺
