To ask about smart meters

Mine tells me my weekly and monthly usage, but I don't know how it measures a week or a mth? Is it Sunday-Sat/Mon-Sun/a Calander mth/a mth from the date it was installed?

I just had a shock to see we've spent £140 so far this month. Our DD is £100 a mth and that's £40 higher than what it was before we switched (we managed to switch just before our energy company went bust and just before all the fixed rate deals got pulled).

Don't forget that you will use considerably more power in December than August. Your usage should be higher than your direct debit in winter.

Its based on the months usage then averaged out to daily use

Also if it is one of the first meters installed it doesn't work as a smart meter anymore once you change supplier and still bases amounts on your previous tariff bot your new tariff. Only the more recent smart meters can actually continue working as a smart meter when you change tariff/supplier.

It was installed last month
