Can anyone advise on how to get money back from ebay over this?

I bought something off Ebay. It said it was dispatched but it didn't arrive when said. I chased the seller...no reply.

Then Royal Mail said that the parcel had been attempted to be delivered twice but it was refused by me. But that's nonsense - I wasn't even here the second time. I had no note (it was second, signed for) through door either time.

Ebay won't refund as yet as the tracking says I refused. The seller won't reply to my three messages.

I have no idea what to do now. It wasn't very expensive but it's the principal.

I wonder if this is a scam? The seller sending it to themselves, and then refusing it?

I have a similar issue and I'm going via small claims court.

Does the Royal Mail tracking have your address on? If not can you ask the seller to send the receipt with the address on?

TinyLittlePandaSneeze · 29/12/2021 15:36

Ah just saw they won't reply sorry.

TooWicked · 29/12/2021 15:36

I don’t think so. Doesn’t it say on the tracking the address it’s being delivered to, or at least the postcode.

I'm holding for Royal Mail right now.

They must have an address. It's not with the tracking number on the system

Will your seller just not reply?

Ask Ebay to step in by going to

www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/default/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701

You can explain goods never arrived and seller not responding etc

irritablehead1 · 29/12/2021 15:43

I have Ebay to step in but on the system it says I refused, so they won't refund

Hmm that is odd, I have had parcels returned to me as buyers haven't been in and then haven't collected from the post office and I have refunded when the item has been returned to me. The seller should have got it back then I would expect them to refund minus postage costs.

If the postman has tried to deliver twice, I'm not sure how it can be a scam?

LightBulbous · 29/12/2021 15:50

If you paid by PayPal put in a PayPal claim.

Yes, that's true. But it's just so weird and annoying - not helped that the seller refuses to return my messages

The buyer had a negative review earlier this month - item didn't turn up, had to get Ebay involved

Royal Mail have been a disaster with deliveries in my area leading up to, and over Christmas. Lots of people having the same experience as you - notifications that they’ve refused a parcel. Someone in the local Facebook group actually caught a postman posting a card through their door saying they weren’t in, and the postman then admitted that he didn’t even have the parcel with him, it was back at the depot and they’d have to go collect it. Postman claimed they’d been told to do this due to staffing levels/ covid.

The likelihood is that the item was posted and it’s got lost in the RM system somewhere.

But that’s still the sellers problem to remedy for you.

yentob · 29/12/2021 15:57

Do you have a tracking number from Royal Mail? If so it will have the GPS recorded at the location it was scanned so if it was not your address the seller cannot say it was delivered to you at all.
I would also ask your Postie if they have tried to deliver it to you as it would not be redelivered without you requesting it.

Bearfamily1010 · 29/12/2021 22:17

If you paid by card ask your bank to do a chargeback for you under goods not received - should be straightforward to get the funds back via dispute.

Anordinarymum · 29/12/2021 22:20

If Royal mail attempted delivery then they must still have the parcel at their sorting office
