Bathing a 6 month old

Hiya can I please ask for ideas to bath my 6 month old? He's too big for the angel care seat now and also too long for his little baby bath which is what I have been using until now. Do I now just wash him in the big bath with no support/ seat/insert or is there something else I could use? He can't sit up on his own and he gets a bit panicked when lying down flat with the water round him.

Thanks

No idea

Bump

I sat in the bath with mine at that age. No need to spend money on gimmicks, that’s what Big Capitalism want you to do.

Co-bathe! I love co-bathing with my baby and we both get clean, win win

Yaty · 29/12/2021 11:22

I would have my DD in the bath with me around that age and once she could sit up used a shower mat so she wasn't slipping about. If you didn't want to do that what about using a bumbo seat or similar?

I sat in the big bath with DD at that in between age. Also got an anti-slip bath mat so she didn’t slide around.

I sat both mine in these in the big bath. Not a seat but helped them stay upright and contained. 👍

This is what we used. It was great!

I’m still using the Shnuggle bath inside big bath at 1yo, friend uses it for their 4yo still. Bit bunched up but still clean. Another friend has a bath mat in big bath but their baby stands.

You have a usable bath mat afterwards as the seat can be removed. Mothercare used to do one called the aqua pod all my three used it about this age onwards it was great

Those seats can be difficult to get a wet wriggly baby out of ime but some might be better than others

BakeOffRewatch · 29/12/2021 11:40

You can still get the mothercare aqua pod at boots www.boots.com/mothercare-aqua-pod-10294674

How heavy is your son? I have a chunk 24lbs at 7 months. We used the shnuggle then a seat in the bath when he was sitting unaided but we found he was too heavy for the seat and it moved around in the bath so now he sits in there with no support.

I do take him in the shower with me sometimes though

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 29/12/2021 11:45

I ran it really shallow and put them on their bellies at that age.

I had one of these for my son. Used it until around 18 months old. Could have used it for longer until around 3.

saves water and means bath toys stay close too!

TinyLittlePandaSneeze · 29/12/2021 13:04

Get a bigger baby bath?

DeepaBeesKit · 29/12/2021 13:09

Just use a basic towel sling

LincolnshireLassInLondon · 29/12/2021 13:11

I had a non slip matt in our big bath and bathed with DS until he was confident sitting on his own.

TheFlyHalfsMum · 29/12/2021 13:12

Just get in with them, it’s what I always did. Never had any baby seat things, totally unnecessary.

EllieSattler · 29/12/2021 13:12

Kitchen sink

LakeShoreD · 29/12/2021 13:17

I used the snuggle baby bath with mine until they could sit up on their own. Although when we had building work done we used the kitchen sink and it also worked well. I wouldn’t fancy a bath in baby pee (or worse) so no way would I be getting in with them!

nextdoorslawnmower · 29/12/2021 13:36

We used a snuggle bath and then a baby seat. He loved them both. It made bath time so much fun.

Amymamabear89 · 29/12/2021 13:41

Tbh I either get in with her or run a shallow bath and do a small mattress of towels- works brilliantly- goes without saying I never leave her side though!!

Boopeedoop · 29/12/2021 13:44

Kitchen sink or get in with them.

Garman · 29/12/2021 13:44

IKEA baby bath, hold them sitting up until they can manage it themselves.

SelfIdentifiedRightsHoarder · 29/12/2021 13:45

We co-bathe. We sit in there for while and play together, and I really value that time now actually! It was a massive bonding tool for me when my daughter was younger 😊 no need to buy all the bath seats and things
