AIBU to even be considering this?

m due back to work in April 2022. Little boy is 9 months old at the start of January and myself and partner have both said we would like to have 2 fairly close together.

I really don’t want to go back to this job as it’s a lot of hours/a lot of stress. However very good money. Would it be absolutely horrendous of me to go back to work pregnant?

Can they do anything about it? I know they’ll likely be very p*ssed off with me. As essentially I’d have just been off for a year getting company mat pay and then be going off again after 8 months or so….

But after this baby I would not be returning.

I can stick the long hours/stress for another 8 months (I think)

Am I an awful person for even thinking this?

I don’t see it as a morally awful thing to do - you only have one life and you need to do what’s right for you and your family. Some people will find themselves in this position regardless of whether they have planned for it or not. However, bear in mind you might not fall pg as easily second time around, and also there may be restrictions on how much paid maternity leave you can claim if you go back pregnant - is there a way you can find out what the policy is?

You do you.

Check your maternity policy, some request you pay it back if you don't return after mat leave
