Help me pick where to live!

Hi all, we are currently living in Manchester central and our tenancy ends soon. We are looking to move out of the city but not really sure where to.

Our requirements are:
£1000 budget.
Minimum two bedrooms
Need a house, preferably detached but would look at cottages and semis too. Would be nice to have a garden and somewhere to park too.
Within an hours drive of Manchester central for work, neither of us mind travelling up to an hour.
Would like a niceish area (not studenty), maybe somewhere near country side where we could go on walks?

AIBU to think we could find somewhere with these requirements and our budget? I’m putting in on rightmove but struggling to know what area to look!

Sorry should have added me are looking to rent not buy. DP can jump around a lot in his job so we can’t commit to buying yet. We also have no kids so don’t need to look at schools.

I don’t live there myself but what about Glossop? I colleague lives there and really likes it and she got a lot of house for her money. There are direct trains to Manchester and it’s less than an hour drive.

Also, surrounded by loads of countryside.

West Yorkshire area… littleborough, Hebden bridge, todmorden, mytholmyroyd, all nice towns on train lines between Manchester and Leeds 🙂 good value for money in terms of property, close to canal networks and lots of lovely walks

Are you looking for a quiet village or a town with a bit of nightlife?

Marple, New Mills and Glossop (where I live) all have easy access to the Peak District and are big enough to support decent bars and shops with trains to Manchester.

The villages outside Oldham (Saddleworth, Greenfield etc) are nice too

I've always liked Ramsbottom when I've visited but I don't know how the commute would be
