AIBU to think toddler germs could give covid a run for its money?!

lighthearted

I’ve avoided covid, been in work throughout the pandemic with some very smelly warehouse men with questionable hygiene and lots of bugs, shared a bed with a covidy DH and been fine but less than 24 hours with two snotty toddlers and my nose is like a tap and my throat feels like it’s full of razor blades.

Just howwwww??!!!! And AIBU to think we should set toddler germs on covid and it wouldn’t stand a chance?!

They are bloody lucky they are cute that’s all I can say!

Hell yes, you are definitely not being unreasonable....one toddler and been ill with everything apart from covid since September. Solidarity!

Youdoyoutoday · 27/12/2021 21:39

Yep!!
Toddlers at nursery are filth! My DS started nursery and we were both sick for 6 months, with 1 of us, both together, it was hell! He is strong as an ox now though.
My DD has had a runny nose for about 4 months, it's finally dried up and I know when she goes back to nursery in Jan it will be running again by her se on session, I just know it!!

*second session

Pinkywoo · 27/12/2021 21:51

Definitely, DS had a one hour settling in session at nursery, brought back a cold which he gave to me, now I have pneumonia! They need some kind of sheep dip tank on the way into nursery Grin

LillyLeaf · 27/12/2021 21:52

Oh god yes! I've avoided covid but since DS started nursery in September I've had back to back awful colds. My throat has been killing me for 3 weeks, I can't cope with feeling like crap for much longer. Toddler germs are the worst.

Abouttimemum · 27/12/2021 21:53

Yep never been so ill in all my life as I have with a toddler at nursery. The last 18 months has been utterly dreadful for us all but I am repeatedly told it does get better….

OpalOwl · 27/12/2021 21:54

This is why all the nursery nurses I know have amazing immune systems.

SleepingStandingUp · 27/12/2021 21:56

Yup. Toddler germs would kick covid ass. That's why comparatively fewer kids get sick.

Travis1 · 27/12/2021 22:59

Honestly even my teeth hurt right now. Next time I see them I’m wearing a mask 🤣🤣

Yes! Maybe this is why we've all avoided covid in my house - because we've had 18 months of nursery germs Grin

Shouldhavebutdidnt · 27/12/2021 23:06

I was ill for a full 6 months after DD started nursery & because I have a shit immune system have realised this is going to happen every year until she is capable of doing basic personal hygiene herself….. it’s a long winter when you are constantly ill

HowBad · 27/12/2021 23:11

My immune system was ace! But I've been so poorly in the six months since DD started nursery. I don't think it helped effectively shielding during pregnancy and then staying away from people when she was tiny given the pandemic. My exposure was pretty much nothing from March 2020 - July 2021!

Oh bless you! At least I don’t have to constantly deal with the germs. I thought their other auntie was exaggerating when she said she was constantly Ill from them - she does weekend childcare I see them sporadically due to work - I’ve eaten humble pie tonight!

Thanks @Travis1 it is very tedious, especially when I realised (whilst on a 6 week course that ran once a week virtually) that I had been ill for 3 out of the 6 sessions 🤨

Siameasy · 28/12/2021 19:40

I was due to return from maternity and DD started nursery we both immediately caught some sort of projectile vomiting thing and I couldn’t go back as planned!
