I had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago and noticed ringing in my right ear and now recently the left ear. Has anyone ever experienced this? I have 7 kids aged 12 to 6 months old. This scares me because I want to hear my babies. The Dr. says my hearing is good, but this ringing is awful.

I've struggled with hearing loss and tinnitus since I was small. I've just got used to it.

But tinnitus can make some people mentally unwell. It can be absolutely awful.

There are some devices that can help by playing a counteracting sound (or something). But it's extremely difficult to get the doctors to agree to have them fitted.

Try researching these devices. And then insist that you need to be referred to a ear, nose and throat specialist. Explain how it is effecting your mental health severely. The GP has to help somehow if you're struggling and it's interfering with your daily life.

My husband recently had a bad ear infection that had caused tinnitus and a bells palsy. He has had his ear drum cut to relieve pressure and a grommet inserted. As the hearing is returning the tinnitus has stopped. I also get periods of tinnitus with sinus problems. Hopefully you will experience an improvement, generally i find i have to be a month clear of infection. My husband it was probably as soon as the infection was gone.
