Anyone in their tww for Christmas? Are you still drinking?

Posting for traffic as no one ever seems to visit the other boards.

I'm not actively TTC tracking stuff etc but we are having unprotected sex as often as we can with a view to having a baby.

Tww I'm halfway through, I have had perhaps three drinks over Christmas. My tww ends New Year's Eve - how much are you guys drinking if yours falls now?

Also, would it be bad to wait until New Year's Day to test! I'd quite like a couple New Year's Eve without feeling guilty 😭

There can be a lot of tww while trying to get pregnant and giving up alcohol whilst hoping you are pregnant each time can be hard. So no, I wouldn’t. But I would do a pregnancy text before I drank on NYE just in case. For me it wouldn’t make me feel any less guilty if I was pregnant but didn’t officially know it. At least if it’s negative you can have a proper drink!

Twizbe · 26/12/2021 20:23

We tired for years for our son. It would have felt even longer if I'd acted pregnant every month we tried.

The month we finally got pregnant I hosted a Eurovision party half way through the TWW. I got wasted.

Baby is almost 5 now

MrsWooster · 26/12/2021 20:29

It won’t make any significant difference-there’s no placenta at this stage and so there’s no means of transmitting the alcohol between mother and baby. Best not get falling-over drunk but otherwise relax and enjoy yourself - it can only help!

I know but it just worries me so many articles say don't drink at all and why would they say it if there's no truth to it.

But equally last six months I've stopped drinking and then turned out either miscarried or not been pregnant anyway.

The whole thing is just annoying

I didn’t, got smashed NYE, when my hangover was much worse than normal it suddenly occurred to me I could be pregnant, tested and I was!
Everything was fine though.
As a PP said I wouldn’t be acting pregnant every month until it’s actually a reality

Sparklybanana · 26/12/2021 21:51

I would just have fun. As long as you aren't an alcoholic and overdoing it, you may as well drink.
I was teetotal for years trying to get pregnant and miscarrying and once our family was complete through ivf, I just let loose and drunk way more than I normally would and ended up with a surprise

LittleRoundRobin · 26/12/2021 21:54

What is tww?

stuntbubbles · 26/12/2021 21:56

I’m absolutely pickling myself. Either I’ll find out I’m pregnant in a few days and this is my last hurrah, or I’ll find out I’m not and won’t have wasted Christmas avoiding the Bailey’s

twwindow · 26/12/2021 22:06

@LittleRoundRobin

What is tww?
Two week wait to see if you're pregnant

Thanks @twwindowtwwindow! Sorry to be thick. I haven't had a baby since the mid 1990s! So I'm not familiar with all the jargon! Best of luck. Grin

PointyMcguire · 26/12/2021 23:09

I’ve just started the TWW and have been drinking as usual over Christmas, not heavily but toasting with fizz, drinks over dinner etc. We’ve been TTC for a while so would rather carry on as normal until we actually have a positive test.

Sapphire387 · 26/12/2021 23:33

Me! I don't drink much anyway but have had a couple over Christmas, same for New Year.

BeardieWeirdie · 26/12/2021 23:46

Bloody hell, I spent about 8 years trying for my two babies. It was bad enough doing that without writing off G&Ts for half of that time.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/12/2021 23:49

I can't even remember having sex to get dd2 lol. I also only tested for both dd1 and dd2 because I had and evil hangover and I never get them. Was 6 weeks with dd1 and 5 weeks with dd2 and I had been drinking till I found out

HeyFloof · 27/12/2021 09:00

I'll be drinking. Been going 2 years so far, 2 second trimester baby losses, 1 chemical pregnancy and one missed miscarriage discovered at 10 weeks. Ive tried everything, not drinking, healthy eating, normal vitamins, expensive vitamins, ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature charting, having sex every other day, having sex every day.

It makes very little difference, as long as you're ovulating and having unprotected sex regularly then you're in with a chance. Good luck.

The actual conception board gets quite a bit if traffic if you're looking for specific advic3or support with TTC.

twwindow · 27/12/2021 09:08

@HeyFloof thank you I posted there originally but nothing.

Sorry for your losses, I've had them too. My ovulation ends NYE - is it bad not test until New Year's Day so I can have a drink?!

Sounds terrible but I'd rather drink 'not knowing' than knowing!

I'd only have two or three anyway I'm not a big drinker

Have a drink, enjoy them! Even if you are in the very early stages of pregnancy, a couple of glasses will make no difference. A healthy fertilised blastocyst will implant and grow regardless at that point.

If you're 14dpo on nye, I would probably try not to test till a few days/a week or so later anyway. It can be very easy to become obsessed with line progression. Depending on how long your cycle is, maybe even waiting till after your period is missed.

twwindow · 27/12/2021 09:24

@HeyFloof I think you're right thank you. I promised myself I'd stop caring about TTC and get on with my life but I just cannot help myself!

It's reallly annoying as I just worry I'm harming something

TTC takes over if you let it, and it's hard not to let it, but most couples fall pregnant within 12 months. Take a prenatal vitamin and dtd a few times a week.
