Dd, 3.5 today

All fine most of the day, later on started to shout and kick and said she didn’t want any of her presents. Actually went up to Dh and kicked him.
I put all the toys away for another day and calmed everything down.
Is it just the excitement of the day etc? Been a nightmare for a few days now, has anyone else’s?

Yes, pretty standard knackered, overwhelmed threenager behaviour there!

fastandthecurious · 25/12/2021 20:13

She's probably just overwhelmed. DS is just 3 and it's been ok but he's wanted a lot of space and time today so we've taken it really slow. It's all the build up of the excitement and presents etc. She'll be ok as she winds down! X

Yep!
Pretty common on Xmas day for toddlers.
Big lead up for them, knackered from nursery, overwhelmed with the toys, visitors etc.

PaperMonster · 25/12/2021 20:14

They definitely get overwhelmed at that age. We used to open presents over a number of days to try and help things stay a bit calmer.

No visitors, just the three of us, plus dog. But there has been lots of exciting build up to it, we took the presents slow, she had quite a lot though, she loved them and sat and played with Dh quite calmly most of the day, then it all went nuts 🙈
