To be pretty chuffed about losing 8lbs in 23 days?

At the beginning of December I hadn’t weighed myself for a while and didn’t think I’d put on that much weight, but all my clothes were feeling tight (especially jeans). I weighed myself and was a bit shocked to see I’d put on nearly a stone since I weighed myself in September. This was a bit of an issue because I’ve been too skint this month to buy new clothes Grin.

I was also very aware Christmas was coming and I thought I could easily come out of the other side of the festive season having added another half a stone to that.

So I started mostly low carbing on the 2nd, and being pretty religious about the 16:8 thing, so only eating within an 8 hour window and then a 16 hour gap before I ate again. I haven’t exercised at all although I was meaning to, I have CFS and haven’t been feeling up to it although I do usually 8-10000 steps a day just doing day to day stuff.

I say mostly low carbing because I have cheated (a fair bit really). My bf was visiting for 5 days and we ate out every evening, and I have had the odd bar of chocolate. I’ve also had at least one can of cider each night, sometimes two. Oh and a couple of Greggs now I think of it. So it really hasn’t been too painful, I’ve just been pretty careful with the carbs the rest of the time. I’ve never tried the 16:8 thing before and I’m sure that’s what has made the difference.

Not a stealth brag but I’m genuinely really surprised as I’ve never managed to lose weight so quickly or successfully. More of a festive message of hope for anyone thinking about losing weight after Christmas excesses.

Well done!

YABU a bit. The first 4-5lbs is water. When you restrict calories your body uses up its glycogen stores. For each 1g, another 2.6g of water is also lost.

YANBU. Bloody wonderful!

Well done you! Getting started is the hardest part. Now you've started, have a little relax to enjoy Christmas then have another go and los another 8lb. Fab!

Well done OP! Great job! IF and low carb is the way forward for me too. Am lighter in my mid 40s than at any other time in my adult life without it being difficult. Been a revelation! Happy Christmas!

TheHatInTheCat · 25/12/2021 16:37

Yeah well done you. Keep going ( if you need to - 10st would be amazing for me)

Guacamole001 · 25/12/2021 18:16

I tried that when I was off my food earlier in the year. It helped but unfortunately my appetite returned and I struggle with 16 hours of no meals. A shame but good for you!

HerRoyalNotness · 25/12/2021 18:36

That’s a lot. Last time I lost any amount, 10lbs in 2 weeks was after surgery and I had the worst acide reflux and didn’t feel like eating. No one told me that could be a side effect of having a tube down my throat, took me awhile to work it out and take meds for it. Of course I put it all back in when it got better. 😁 🤔

SameToo · 25/12/2021 18:40

Well done! I was doing the 16:8 and not drinking and had lost a couple of pounds but have put it all back on now due to Xmas and Covid! Starting again tomorrow though.

Guacamole001 · 25/12/2021 19:00

Actually I think it was 12 12 I did but it still helped no end and I drastically cut down on carbs.

BethAfra · 25/12/2021 21:44

Oh, thank you! I have put so much weight on and I have a holiday booked for Feb. I am going to start low carbing tomorrow now. And well done, btw.

BlueLines81 · 25/12/2021 21:44

Thanks all, I’ve found the 16:8 thing surprisingly easy, I don’t even think about eating until lunchtime. Hopefully the next 8lbs will be just as easy Smile.
