To have a pity party due to feeling poorly on Christmas Day?

It's Christmas Day, I've got a decent husband and 2 lovely kids. I should be having a lovely day but I'm feeling really rough. Feels like the start of flu and have just come upstairs for my 2nd lie down / nap of the day.

Pretty certain it's not covid as I do daily LFT for work plus a weekly PCR and all have been negative this week. Probably doesn't help I've just finished a 45 hour week at work so am exhausted.

Bit of a pity party really but I really wanted this Christmas to be lovely after having to isolate last year Sad

I’ll join... I have covid and so am isolating home by myself. It’s rubbish!

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 25/12/2021 14:13

@Blueby1 that's rubbish Sad how are you feeling with the covid?

I'm just praying mine isn't covid before the test turns positive. Just feel so ill and drained.

I feel the same, I have covid, just a stuffed nose and slight cough, but my taste and smell buds have just gone an hour before my dinner is ready, and about 5 minutes after opening my prosecco 😭

HollysBush · 25/12/2021 14:19

Had chest pains in the night, went to work but it got worse so went to A&E. ECG and bloods normal so they sent me home but it still hurts. Resting in bed, trying not to feel a cow for going home sick on Christmas Day!
Take it easy OP and try to relax. These things happen, it’s just life.

Nsws2015 · 25/12/2021 14:31

Am joining you on the pity party, dd tested pos Monday and me wed, dh and 2x ds are all negative. I feel exhausted, hot n cold, can't sleep at night cos of sweats/chills or a completely blocked nose, everyone says they slept loads...I want sleep!!!! Dh has cooked Christmas Dinner and me and dd ate what we could but then felt awful for leaving quite a bit on our plates. I went to wash my sons bottles earlier and just standing at the sink washing them left me absolutely exhausted. It definitely sucks!

Picklypickles · 25/12/2021 14:36

We're all feeling shite in my house too, not covid just a nasty cold but we've had to cancel our Christmas Dinner because everyone is dripping with snot and hacking and coughing, nobody has much of an appetite anyway! So much nice food here and I don't want any of it! I also tried to roast some chestnuts last night and several of them exploded towards my face when I took them out of the oven and now my house stinks of burnt chestnuts. I've given up on festivities!

Also feeling sorry for myself with COVID. Day 6 of feeling crappy and no end in sight

Thesearmsofmine · 25/12/2021 14:47

I’ll join you. We’ve been ill all week(apart from DH) so no visitors today. Kids have been up in the night, one was in tears this morning because of feeling so rubbish and I an just making a very scaled back Christmas dinner that none of us actually want(apart from DH!) because the meat needed using and I have no freezer room. Think once we’ve tidied round I’ll be off for a lie down or a hot bath.

cynicbuthappy · 25/12/2021 15:52

Joining in. 6 months and counting of long covid. Fortunately being very well looked after, but have had to spend most of the day in bed. Hope everyone feels better soon! Xmas Smile

shivermetimbers77 · 25/12/2021 15:54

Yep me too. Tested negative for covid all week on lat flow and pcr , including a negative lat flow yesterday morning. Then felt a bit chesty last night and tested again at midnight and bingo, covid positive. What a Christmas present!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/12/2021 16:00

Can I join?
I am feeling exhausted due to worsening anaemia from losing a quarter to a half pint of blood every day.
Gynaecologist I saw at the end of November was all ‘omg we must operate! I’ll put you on my list for next week’ but one month, one emergency hospital admission, several calls to the gp to get medications which help a bit but not enough and one cancelled op later I am still getting weaker by the day.
Dh has been doing everything and we’ve had the most rubbish Christmas ever. Feeling very sorry for myself and my poor family.

Pinkywoo · 25/12/2021 17:48

I'm ill too, 28 weeks pregnant, asthmatic and just spent two nights in hospital with pneumonia. Fortunately I came home yesterday afternoon and had enough time to get the two year olds presents wrapped and instrct DH in everything else that needed doing!

m030978 · 25/12/2021 17:55

Feeling crap here too. Cold symptoms from weds, PCR on thurs, no result yet.
All lat flows negative so far (not done one today)
Headache from hell (like a migraine, but both sides and not responding to usual migraine meds) sore throat, slight cough and tight chest.
Feel crap and guilty thats its my fault Christmas is postponed Sad
Husband is making dinner, and he's marvellous at it. But still feel guilty.

Pasithea · 25/12/2021 18:11

Currently cooking a full Christmas dinner. I got out of bed to make it. I’ve got a nj tube in so can’t eat and drink. Pain levels are through the roof and the smell of the turkey is making me 🤢 vomit.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 25/12/2021 18:47

Can I join?
Not Ill but have THE period pains from hell, have taken ibuprofen and cocodamol with no success Xmas Sad It HURTS and feel like my insides are going to fall out....... maybe I’ll try the baileys.

How people go through labour I’ll never know

whereareyousellotape · 25/12/2021 22:27

Me too my 3 year old has given me the flu he's been poorly with for the last 2 weeks. Continuous cough, temperature, no appetite etc (PCR negative) Have tried my best all day as have a 8 and 3 year old by feel like absolute garbage now. The cough is driving me insane it's totally pointless doesn't even clear my chest but is just there every 2 minutes!!

zoomies1 · 25/12/2021 22:32

Me too! First Christmas for my three month old son and I was really looking forward to joining in the festivities. Unfortunately I have come down with the first cold I’ve had in about two years. Typical. I have tested negative for covid but there is always that lingering doubt…

tensixtysix1066 · 25/12/2021 22:53

Me too!
Been feeling rubbish with covid all week. Had a really bad turn this morning during present opening. Unfortunately as I'm on my own with my child I couldn't go to bed/ lie down.. well I kind of laid on floor to play at the same time as trying to stay awake/ keep breakfast down. 🙁

It's been a really difficult day and I feel terrible for my child. We managed to eat a bit later but since I can't taste or smell I can't be sure it was any good!

Really exacerbated my MH issues..

Just as well my child is incredible though unable to get it when I say I am unwell!

Keeva2017 · 25/12/2021 23:02

Can I join this party?

5 days and lost 90% of taste, instead living with a sore mouth and horrid bitter taste when I eat. 2 small children and driving so eating lovely food is my highlight of Christmas. Made it a lovely day for the kids but feeling really sorry for myself. And hungry!

Bakingwithmyboys · 25/12/2021 23:14

Joining in with you.

Horrible blocked nose, not covid.

Nausea brought on by hunger (second time I've had this when not pregnant and it's just weird and I don't understand why).

I've hurt muscle in my arm and haven't been able to use it much today. (On the plus side it got me out of changing nappies) so been feeling guilty about how useless I've been. So bad I had to get DH to put my hair up as I just can't lift my arm to do it.

Finishing the day with horrible headache and slight nausea (again feeling like I need to eat but I've been eating all day!).
