Confused I don't really understand what your husband is worried about.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/12/2021 19:06

Hasn't he had it?

SleighbellsZ · 24/12/2021 19:07

What's he worried about? He's not pregnant is he?! Xmas Shock

OhPeeQueue · 24/12/2021 19:08

It’s not covid, it’s chickenpox. If you’ve had it already, you won’t get it again. 🤪

whynotwhatknot · 24/12/2021 19:08

didnt mean to enable voting -no idea think he might catch something whatever that is

Frlrlrubert · 24/12/2021 19:08

So DH has never had it?

Tricky, probably depends on lots of other factors but personally I'd leave him at home and go for a couple of hours, maybe bring him some leftovers.

CherryRedDMs · 24/12/2021 19:09

It’s unusual, but possible to catch chickenpox more than once.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/12/2021 19:10

Don't think it's a good idea if he hasn't had it, it can be nasty as an adult.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 24/12/2021 19:10

I think it depends on why he’s worried, if he's not had them then its reasonable for him to not want to go. If you’ve both had them then theres really no issue.

whynotwhatknot · 24/12/2021 19:13

Yes he saying he looked it up and its possible to catch it twice

i just think its an excuse

It's unlikely, but it happened to me. Both times were in childhood though.
Frlrlrubert · 24/12/2021 19:15

If he's had it I'd tell him to stop being silly or stay home on his own.

Largethighsbadeyes · 24/12/2021 19:15

Very unlikely to catch it twice. I'd go

LizzieBet14 · 24/12/2021 19:16

I've had chicken pox twice

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 24/12/2021 19:17

I wouldn't as I've never had chicken pox, if I had had it then I probably would.

But your DH is allowed to make decisions that impact his own health but shouldn't expect you to change your plans too.

LunaTheCat · 24/12/2021 19:17

Chickenpox as an adult is awful- I had it.
Adults have a high risk complications - chickenpox pneumonia is very very nasty.
In the middle of a pandemic, when medical resources are very very stretched then I would consider very very seriously .

whynotwhatknot · 24/12/2021 19:18

I guess it isnt impossible then to get it twice i'll keave him to it

OP posts:
Landof · 24/12/2021 19:19

I havent had chicken pox and I would go.

Skybooks · 24/12/2021 19:20

I wouldn't go but I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have never had it if I was you is definitely go.

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 19:30

If I had had it, I would go. If not, I wouldn't. Chicken pox as an adult can be severe.

toastofthetown · 24/12/2021 19:36

It's marginal if I've had chickenpox so I wouldn't go. Everyone's risk assessments are different, and as some people can catch chickenpox more than once I understand you husband's position. It won't be a great day if he's on edge about chickenpox all day.

JacquelineCarlyle · 24/12/2021 19:53

I have had it as a child but would still be wary of going, so if it was someone I didn't really want to see then I absolutely wouldn't be going (as would only go if it was someone I was desperate to see!)

TulipsGarden · 24/12/2021 19:59

I had it as a young adult and it was horrible. I wouldn't visit - you can get it twice.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 24/12/2021 20:02

My mum got it twice. My brother missed it when I caught it as a youngster. He caught it in his 50s, was really ill.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/12/2021 20:04

No I wouldn’t go. Before DS2 had it I would have gone, no question, however he had a terrible dose which ended with pneumonitis. There’s no way I’d want that.
