I know iabu so just need a shake.... or some consoling words
DC2 has tested positive today, so DC1 and her partner can't come (both junior doctors and rightly worried about about adding to nhs staff absence). Widowed dad now can't come either. DC3 and DP still here. Also DC1 in-laws were coming Boxing Day.
I have so much food cooked, all stockings done. DC2 has had 3 neg lft so I didn't see this coming for the pcr.
Very first world, many people much worse off, so I need a shake to put my big girl pants on and stop tearing up.

That's shit. The only consolation I can give is at least you've found out with the positive test. It would be worse if they'd come and caught it, especially your dad. Better a disappointment than a potential disaster.

No, you are right it is shit. Can you postpone your Christmas to another day you can all get together?

Thank you for nice words. We can maybe do new year but minus dd1 and partner as they're back at work by then (ironically on a covid ward). It's only one arbitrary day, I do know that. Thank you
