No, obviously I'm not! Xmas Grin

Special reminder this year for those who've lost some sense of smell because of covid.

(Inspired by the MNer whose grill nearly went up and she hadn't smelt a thing.Xmas Shock www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4422370-check-your-smoke-alarms)

Best wishes to you all you lovely vipers for a safe and cheery Christmas.CakeWineBrew

YANBU at all.

Just giving this a little bump.

Anaximedes · 22/12/2021 23:10

No loss of smell here but a brilliant idea esp given that.

I'll take the nudge and remind my family.

Just commenting to bump it again.

Claudethecat · 22/12/2021 23:13

Mine work too well sometimes!
But happy to bump this as it is so important.

BashfulClam · 22/12/2021 23:15

Mine gets tested every time we use the grill.

PumpkinCrumble · 22/12/2021 23:17

I thought this was going to be because of all the turkeys being burnt 😂

MissCruellaDeVil · 22/12/2021 23:23

I really wish there was more awareness around this time of year to check your smoke alarms. So many electrical items and dry Christmas trees are a real fire hazard!

Edinvillian · 22/12/2021 23:25

I first realised that I'd lost my sense of smell after burning a pizza to a crisp.
My sense of smell is still a bit dodgy, both me and my son could smell burning in the house recently and couldn't figure out what it was, only to find it was boiling onions that smelled smoky to us. Weird.

nettytree · 22/12/2021 23:26

Yep. We bought a house with wired in alarms. Found out 6 months later that they were 4 years out of date.

XenoBitch · 22/12/2021 23:27

Mine regularly gets tested by my attempts at cooking Grin

whatnumber · 22/12/2021 23:27

Thank you will do Grin

1st if the month,every month.

I used to leave LED Christmas Lights on when I went out (but not the traditional ones), however, since the fire that killed the 4 young boys (last I heard it was said to be the Christmas lights around the front door) I have even been turning the LED's off.

& I'll check mine again tomorrow

Thanks.
