Dont put in more than you are putting out. This will result ik n weight gain. Either eat less or exercise more.

Notimeforaname · 21/12/2021 20:22

In weight gain*

tiredanddangerous · 21/12/2021 20:23

Have you had any help with your feelings around food? It really isn't normal or healthy to feel guilty every time you eat.

wintercoffees · 21/12/2021 20:25

I don't know who can help me to be honest

Do you calorie count? I’ve always calorie counted to lose weight but you can use it to maintain too. I use an app called Nutracheck.

MsWalterMitty · 21/12/2021 20:25

I’m similat OP! I’m 9st and would like to stay that way, but I can literally see the flab on my belly getting bigger! My downfall is chocs in the evening!

I am trying to counteract by not eating much during the day and going for atleast a walk or bike ride each day!… I might have to up to a run at this rate though!

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2021 20:25

Just forget about it for a week, you can lose anything you gain after Christmas. I’m similar to you and stress over my weight all the time, usually I exercise a lot but having DC’s home makes it impossible so I’ve just decided not to stress over it until next week. I will probably gain a little but it’s not the end of the world because I can exercise more after Christmas and eat better food. I try not to let Christmas drag on, after Boxing Day I’m done and am back in the healthy food on the 27th.

This. Or just try to limit yourself to relaxing on Christmas day and enjoying it but not going overboard for weeks on end.

You can go to counselling. Ring/email around some local places. You may have to be put on a waiting list but it's still progress!

I'm currently trying to lose weight. I plan to eat and drink whatever I want Christmas Eve to boxing Day, without guilt, but also without going mad. I'm off work the week after and I'm going to be sensible then, and walk/ run at least 5k a day (which is approx 300 calories) to try and make up for extra over Christmas.

If I stay the same weight I'll be delighted but I'm accepting I might put a couple of pounds on which I can lose in a couple of weeks if it comes down to it.

It's not worth spoiling your Christmas for the sake of a couple of pounds you can lose easily if you put your mind to it after.

samthebordercollie · 21/12/2021 20:27

I'd you eat a lot one day eat a lot less the next, fast as long as you can. Eat smaller portions. And exercise more.

Thank you all so much for the help. Do you think 9stone7lb is overweight for a girl who is 5ft6

No.

I'm 5ft and 9 stone 3 which puts me at a BMI of 25. You are 6 inches taller and only 4lb heavier!

wintercoffees · 21/12/2021 20:30

Thank you for helping me it means a lot to me

Yes Christmas is a difficult time.

I advise not succumbing to peer pressure, it can be quite hard when you have some one saying eat this eat that, its only once a year etc etc

LadyCatStark · 21/12/2021 20:31

I’m going to keep exercising til Christmas Eve and have Christmas Eve, day and Boxing Day off but I still have to walk the dog anyway so I’ll still get a decent amount of steps in especially on Christmas Eve when I need him to be tired for when we have visitors. Other than that I’m just trying to not go too crazy but not worry too much.

TheRedTowel · 21/12/2021 20:35

I can't believe people are giving dieting advice to someone who clearly has disordered attitudes towards their eating habits and weight.

Please get professional help OP rather than asking randoms on MN who will tell you to live off nothing but dust and air.

No- that was my ideal weight many moons ago! Best shape of my life! Christmas is just one day- enjoy,
SnowWhitesSM · 21/12/2021 20:38

Just go for a daily long walk and have really hot baths. Don't calorie count over Christmas. Lots of walks, lots of water and try not to eat loads of salty food.

wintercoffees · 21/12/2021 20:38

Thank you everyone

ShinyMe · 21/12/2021 20:48

You need to eat, what is it? About 3500 calories per week more than you work off to put on one pound? Something like that. Eating a few chocolates will NOT make you put on masses of weight.
