A blackbird maybe? They sing in the dark. There are apps for recording and identifying bird songs, or you can just look up the songs of a few likely suspects and compare.

It's weird isn't it? Yours is the third thread about this I've seen in the last week. Not criticising you at all, OP, it's just that lots of people have been noticing it. I could hear them chirping away at 3am the other day, very strange.

Probably a Robin. Cousin of blackbirds but much noisier in winter.

Lots of birds sing at night but I've noticed that they have been more vocal for the past few days.

Maybe they've just changed their batteries again?

It's because it's not dark. Security lights, Christmas lights, house lights of people staying up late, full moon, all of these will confuse birds into thinking it's not yet nighttime. Threat of danger can trigger more than one bird calling in the night too.

Unless they are the nocturnal ones of course.

I read recently that new street lights are confusing wildlife and plant life.

It's LED street/commercial/security lights. Slightly less energy so good for the environment, keeps birds awake so bad for them (being knackered is not good news for birds).
