MIL bought this for my mum for Christmas. I delivered to my mum and she opened it to see this. But not sure what it is. It’s got a marble base and then the gold bars. Cheeseboard maybe?

Looks like a decorative tray you place candles/jewellery on. The fact it’s been put into a card factory gift box and the item doesn’t have a label on it could mean it’s been regifted/ an unwanted item in her house.
