To call the Gp again?

My Ds age 5 started coughing on saturday (not covid he had that last month and lateral flow negative) yesterday he coughed up a small amount of green mucous like stuff.
Today it has progressed into coughing until he gags/vomits. He does not have a temperature and is generally ok in himself, just a little quiet. Breathing is not laboured but can hear a very slight wheeze if I listen to his back. He's also just settling down from what appeared to be an eczema flare up where his whole face was covered in a red/dry rash. On a sidenote when he did have covid last month he barely coughed.

Ds has a history of being Ill quite frequently with coughs which progress into either infections/croup/bronchitis. He has been hospitalized 3 times in the past for bronchiolitis/croup and has ended up at the drs and out of hours many times for steroids/antibiotics. I do try and avoid calling for help unless I feel it's gone beyond being managed at home.

Asthma has been mentioned since he was about 2. He currently has 2 inhalers (preventer and reliever) and has been put down as having suspected asthma by the Gp last year however nobody has actually assessed him face to face due to covid. When these coughing episodes happen the inhalers don't really seem to help.

How he is now is a recurrent thing that happens every couple of months and often lasts for over a week. Last time he ended up on antibiotics after over a week of coughing, calling the gp 3 times in a week and ds vomiting 23 times in one day through coughing! I often end up feeling like a neurotic mother and was last time told some children are prone to coughing and to call an ambulance in future if I'm that concerned?

I'm not really sure what I'm asking for by posting this but I am getting a bit more worried surely it's not normal for him to end up like this every 2 months and the drs should be looking into it further? I don't know how else to help him but it's horrible to see him become Ill so frequently.

Just to add as a baby he was put on prescribed formula and medication as he had terrible reflux however that settled down once he was on solids.

Thank you if you've managed to read through all of this.

Hopeful bump.
Ds has not vomited anymore since posting, is coughing constantly though. Wondering if I should wait it out and see how he goes.

Can you take him to a walk in so they can listen to chest and check oxygen levels? Might be quicker than gp
