Feeling upset

How would this make you feel?

Watching a programme and a very large lady is noticeably walking odd/waddling. Partner says to me "why is she walking like that" and I say "probably her tummy is in the way a bit" and then he says "but you don't walk like that"

I am overweight since having my son, I'm a dress size 16 but jeans 18, was previously a dress size 12 and 14 in jeans so it's something I am working on but baby, PND and pandemic has been a challenge I don't move enough and I comfort eat.

I am exercising every day now and tracking calories and have joined a gym but now feeling really deflated. We are supposed to be getting married next year.

I know he loves me and we still have a normal sex life but why would he say something so hurtful even if it's partly true.

If say the woman in tv was a fair few sizes bigger than me. When I asked what he meant he said "well you say you have a big tummy and you are overweight"

Anyway a long one but aibu to be upset

YANBU. Tell him
He hurt your feelings. Hopefully he’ll apologise and you can move on x

Aw that’s such a thoughtless thing for him to have said! But yes: tell him how the comment has made you feel.

And don’t feel deflated; be proud of what you’re achieving by going to the gym. Having a baby plus PND and a pandemic is a lot to deal with so don’t be too hard on yourself.

YNBU, women's bodies are celebrated when pregnant but when babies are delivered its although those humans that we grew are all forgotten. You are beautiful don't feel anything other than that x
