Looks like there will be more announcements very soon. We have a cottage booked for a few days over NYE which I think might be ok as it’s just us, no household mixing - but the booking is 100% cancellable so it is what it is.
Since Omicrom emerged, I’ve taken the stance as ‘nothing is guaranteed’ in terms of Christmas/NY plans, mentally prepared for things to change. Given the prevalence of Omicron, I’m still expecting one of us at least to contract it this week. We’re due elsewhere for Christmas dinner but I’ve now got a Turkey in the freezer!

If restrictions come in, travel under the pretense of a self eye test, and the family gathering can be a work meeting with cheese and wine..... no problem with that

I've just flown with TUi abroad. The flight was carnage and a bit terrifying. No one wanted to wear masks for 5 hrs and lots of coughing/sneezing. I am used to wearing a mask for 8 hr shifts so was amazed and anxious and felt very uncomfortable! but hols have been OK whilst here as quiet ish. I am not looking forward to flight home on weds though or PCR test tomorrow! Also have had to book miss in for PCR tests before day 2 due to rule change for over 5s cost an extra 200. I write all of this a e did consider cancelling but came as just wanted a break... would I do it again next week after Xmas or in New year... I'd go in UK but not abroad

We have a trip planned within the U.K. for the 27th. Keeping everything crossed!

5keletor · 20/12/2021 09:50

If it's within the UK and you can travel by car, it should be fine as long as you can prepare for last-minute restrictions. I wouldn't plan on flying at the moment, a busy flight seems like the perfect way to catch Omicron, and then you've got the issue of unknowingly spreading it, plus isolation either on holiday or upon your return to the UK.

lifeturnsonadime · 20/12/2021 09:52

Yes another one here with a UK trip planned for the 27th. As it's a standalone cottage I'm hoping we won't be cancelled. Although any restrictions will inevitably put a dampener on things, worse for the businesses affected than for me though.

What will be will be. We're prepared that it won't go ahead. If it does, in any form, it's a bonus.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/12/2021 09:53

I think if you have travel planned I’d just keep my fingers crossed and go with it.

I wouldn’t be making any new plans right now though.

2Rebecca · 20/12/2021 10:12

Why did you make this a poll? The options aren't clear.

Tevion28 · 20/12/2021 10:42

Wasn't aware I'd made it a poll
